I'm all bad moody tonight and depressed. Yes, things are slowly getting to me. Meanwhile the Orthopedic Doctor sent me an email that they are re-opening their offices and seeing patients again. And I'm thinking - considering I'm afraid to take the subway for twenty minutes into my workplace, I do not foresee myself traveling forty-five minutes to an hour on two subways, and walking six blocks in the upper East Side of Manhattan to see you - particularly since I have no back pain at all at the moment. Shoulder and neck pain, yes, but I know why I have that. And you can't help.
1. Take Me to the World - Stephen Sondheim's 90th Birthday Tribute from various musicians at home - highlights? Full orchestra playing their instruments via Zoom, each in their own homes. Bernadette Peters at home alone singing No One is Alone at 72.
2. Geological Orrey Could Reveal Planetary Dynamics in Deep Time
3. !0 Inventors Who Came to Regret Their Creations
Some are obvious, some...really not so obvious. And some downright amusing...such as the person who created office cubicles, now regrets it - yep, so do the rest of us, particularly now.
4. From Mouldy Showers to Junk Drawers - How to Clean the 10 Things Annoying You Most - some good ideas here...such as slicing up a lemon, putting it in water and running it in the microwave to clean the microwave. That almost sounds like fun.
5. Genetics Research Explains Why Dogs Are Very Good Boys
Sorry, still a Cat person.
6. Dorothy Thompson - the Journalist Who Warned the World About Adolf Hitler
And people didn't listen. Because people are dumb. It's annoying but true.
As a crusading journalist, Dorothy Thompson made plenty of enemies—but her most formidable foe was Adolf Hitler. Thompson spent well over a decade agitating against the Nazis in print and on the radio, warning Americans of the threat of fascism years before the official U.S. entry into World War II. Her efforts made her one of the most famous women in the United States—and the first American correspondent Hitler expelled from Germany.
