After feeling a bit down in the dumps, I took a CBD happy pill (I'd gotten it on sale for $35). It helped, except also gave me a craving for chocolate.

I don't think I need to explain why I was down in the dumps.

Anyhow, it motivated me to do laundry - not like anything was going on work-wise, nor would anyone notice that I was doing laundry at 3:15pm as opposed to working on a change order. Note laundry isn't really that involved. I don't sit with it. I take it down, throw it into the machine, and go back up again. It's only problematic if anyone is down there or I have to wait for a machine.

(Workplace didn't notice or even miss me. Working remotely from home, rocks. I'm so much more productive in some respects, less so in others.) And no one was in the laundry room or the basement for once. I still wore a mask the whole time - because honestly you don't know when someone will inadvertently pop up. There's an apartment down there, and I could hear the Super wandering about, didn't see him though. It's a big basement. When I approached the elevator to go down to said basement, a healthcare worker from the apartment next to mine was waiting for the elevator. Why she didn't just go down the steps, I've no clue. It's only two flights, also safer.
Also she went down the 1920s elevator, where you have to yank open the door, as opposed to the new one. She can't figure out how to yank it open. "Do you pull?" "No, you yank it across." She looked confused. So I did it. Then she asked if I wanted to get in with her. "No." Really? Really people? See? This is what I mean by being gaslit.

And I went downstairs to pick up my food order. I've stopped disinfecting the box and food, because it's recently come to light that you can't get the virus from a box or food. So food orders are safe. Yippee.

Two non-stressful (formerly stressful) things accomplished in one day.

While cases are increasing elsewhere in the US, they are decreasing in New York City and New York. New York has decided to regard this development with a growing sense of cautious optimism. We finally got below 1,000 hospitalizations today. And 0 deaths in Brooklyn. People will probably set off more fireworks tonight as a cause for celebrations. I told a lawyer on Facebook that I thought it was a thoughtless act done out of boredom.

Lawyer: So something has to be thoughtless and out of boredom at the same time?
Me: Well, boredom and thoughtlessness kind of go hand in hand.

Yes, this is the same lawyer that a friend from church (who is also a lawyer) got into it with...on the same post. Our esteemed Mayor refuses to take it lying down - he's is damned if he's not going to stop it on his watch. So he announced that he's forming a TASK FORCE TO AFTER THE SUPPLIERS OF THE FIREWORKS IN A HUGE STING OPERATION.
(How it is going to be a sting operation after he announced it to the media, I don't know. You'd think that alone would have alerted the sellers of the fireworks, unless of course they are idiots? Also, I'm convinced people are just driving to another state such as New Jersey or Pennsylvania to get them and coming back with them. So technically legally purchased in Pennsylvania to be set off in New York.) It's become a problem - but hey it gives the police something positive to do.

My mother likes to tell me stories about the horrible deaths of plants.Last week it was about a pine tree that the maintenance crew was chopping down to ensure it didn't fall on a house - it was too close to the house. Frak the house, I want the tree to live.

Mother: So your brother bought 200 wildflower seeds. And he planted them all along the side of his barn.
Me: Sounds lovely.
Mother: There's no rain, and he can't water them - because of the water shortage up where he is - so they all died.
Me: Ohhhhh the poor flowers. They all died?
Mother: Yes.
Me: This is so painful. So painful. Breaks my heart. Poor flowers.
Mother: It upset your brother too.

Mother: So the maintenance men in fixing the drainage along the side of our house, have to remove the flowering camellia bush. It had to go.
Me: It's dead?
Mother: Yes... I rather liked it, it had an interesting flower.
Me: Oh, so painful. Couldn't they avoid that?
Mother: Apparently not. It's not a big deal, I rarely saw it, only can see a speck of it out the office window anyhow.
Me: You need to stop telling me these horrible stories about dying plants. It's so painful. Stop it.

Enough to make me want to go buy plants. No clue where I'd put them. And I'd probably kill them within a week - which would be painful. So maybe not.

My brother told my mother that I should just stay home with the electrical guys. He didn't have access to his kitchen and hall for a month, a day won't kill me. Also safer than attempting to going into the office. My brother agrees with me, New York isn't safe at the moment - too many stupid people out there.

What has Crazy Workplace done to combat the coronavirus and make it safe for employees to return to work? They sent us a video on how to safely return to the workplace, and how to safely check ourselves every day for COVID-19 before we come to work. MTA's NY Transit's Guide to Safely Returning to Work which is basically the same guide as Crazy Workplace's. We also get two industrial strength high-end cloth masks that will last for up to six months. And they will be cleaning around the clock.

Sounds great right? The only problem with this plan? From the news, it was pretty clear people are NOT following the guidelines on the subways no matter what the State tells them to do. Quite a few people aren't standing six feet apart, and they aren't wearing masks. We basically have too many pesky people in the city who don't think it is a problem. The millennials don't see the point - they figure, I get it, I get it. I'll survive. It really is mostly people under the age of 50. Niece doesn't see it as a problem either, but her parents do. And she is isolated, and can't drive, so they can restrict her socialization. All over FB, my online/social media friends were upset that people would not wear masks. They've figured out that the reason there are more cases than deaths in Texas - is that mostly it is the young getting infected, the older population is playing it safe. That may be true of Germany and Russia as well - now that I think about it. The older group is staying in and wearing a mask, the younger ones aren't - and they are getting infected and recovering.

It was a lovely if somewhat overcast day today, with storm clouds rolling in and out again, but no precipitation or storm. And it's quiet at the moment.
Nice. I like the quiet.

Didn't take the walk - due to doing laundry and picking up the food order downstairs.

I need to stop ordering stuff, getting tired of receiving packages. Although, I did cave and buy a wireless keyboard for Macbook Air, and a lap-top lift that will go up a bit higher - for ergonomic reasons. It's my on-going battle against the 2020 shoulders, neck, and carpal tunnel syndrome. So far I've avoided - I hope to continue. That and more CBD gummies.

Hope all is well in your world. All is well here ...as far I can tell. It's really hard to be certain about anything at the moment.

I leave you with...my shadow's reflection in grass.

I think I may have mentioned this before, but in case not-- my sister had a greenhouse business for quite a few years, and raised both veggies and flowering plants, so, obviously, she's extremely plant-savvy.

If you ever have any plant-related questions, something you're not sure of, just post, and I'll be glad to check with her.

I've never heard about CBD happiness pills before, but I'm intrigued. Have you been taking them long and have you experienced side effects?
