I was holding a lot of solo dance parties in my apartment during the first part of the pandemic, and I still do on occasion. It should be noted that anything with a beat makes me want to dance.
This is the first song that I held a dance party to, or at least I think it was - it was a long time ago. And it fits the criteria - it's a song that makes me want to dance whenever I hear it, and it also cheers me up.

Date: 2020-08-09 06:31 pm (UTC)I went Benny Goodman's Big Band for wendelah's dance post, so I thought I'd go up a decade and do some jump blues. I became a fan of Louis Jordan through Joe Jackson's "Jumpin Jive" album (also recommended), but there's nothing like the original.
This is a rare live performance from French TV in 1974--but Jordan hadn't lost a step.

This is sort of a "linked" selection with wendelah's upcoming post for today, because The Bobs do a killer cover of this song (a capella, of course).
