This is Day #9 of the 30 Day Film Meme.

I don't know about this prompt, folks. I'm struggling with rage issues toward crazy company, my union, maskless wonders, and the thing in the white house (that is attempting to destroy NY).

So it may not be a good idea to do "film I hate that everyone liked".

It's not that I don't have films I hate that you all love (although hate is a strong word)...just that ...

I don't have the stomach for it right now. I don't want to know if you dislike something I like or love, and I don't think you really want to know if I dislike something you do - or care to know. We live in a world in which people are constantly inflicting their negative opinions, judgements and dislikes on to us, whether we want them or not - how about a breather from all that? I need one, I'm betting you do too?

The category was "a flim you hate that everyone else liked"so for my own sanity and yours, I'm flipping it to a A Film You Liked But Everyone Else Disliked . Taking "hate" out of equation. You are free of course to do that previous prompt in your own journals. But I find hate toxic, and there's enough online as it is, why add to it here?

There's a rule here? If you dislike someone else's pick - you are not permitted to comment on it. If you do, I'll delete your comment. You are only permitted to say you like something or post a film you like that most people you know dislike. No negative judgments of others choices permitted.

Here's mine.

I'm all for the switchover, and I have a perfect candidate: Obsessed (2009).

Ordinarily, this is a movie I would never, ever watch: it's a domestic melodrama, with a twisted, psychotic single woman determined to break up the marriage of of a seemingly happy couple. But the star power in this movie is off the charts, and everybody fully commits to their respective clichés: Idris Elba as the first flattered, then terrified wayward husband; Beyonce as the aggrieved wife and fierce mama bear; and Ali Larter as the psycho bitch.

The Beyonce/Larter battle at the end is worth wading through the occasional slow spots. Don't look for serious commentary on the state of the American marriage; dive in and wallow.

I love this movie! Garry Marshall shaved some of the rough edges off the original script and turned what could have been a harsh, cynical film into a smash hit.

(Some people still look at Jason Alexander suspiciously because of this movie....)

I think I like it. I like the female star's mouth, and I like most things the male star is in. I can't remember either of their names!

OK, I'm going with Legends of the Fall . Which IMO is completely daft but very pretty, plus Jim Thompson is from Michigan.

I was originally going to say Escanaba in da Moonlight but I was sure not a single one of you have ever seen it.

I liked Pretty Woman, it was a very fanficcy movie. I can certainly see reasons why people might dislike it but given what a hit it was and how popular it remains, clearly a lot of people like it.
