A Film that makes you happy
Considering I'm depressed at the moment...this is probably a good one.
Also saw this in repertory theater - which was interesting, because of how well they pulled off all the crazy dance numbers. Singing in the Rain has some of the best, and by far the most fun, song and dance numbers ever.

Any one of Sturges' movies (like The Lady Eve or The Palm Beach Story) could apply here, but this one is my favorite. Sturges lightly mocks clueless Hollywood do-gooders who want to shine a light on society's ills--without having the slightest idea of what real suffering is all about.
The conclusion reaffirms Sturges' belief in the healing power of laughter. (It looks like Sully's epic drama, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", will have to wait.....)

.... and sixty years later, Joel and Ethan Coen pick up that baton in their own tribute to Sturges:

( Note: I did already nominate this delightful film this for a previous question, so I'll provide another pick. )
And, for consistent enhappyment, there's always this truly classic classic choice:

"You are a sad, strange little man, and you have my pity. Farewell."
