Well this is making me giggle, chortle and laugh for about ten minutes whenever I think about it...
People are so desperate to travel they are taking flights to nowhere
Basically, they are taking a flight that departs and lands in the same place. And they are sold out.
LOL!
Oh god. This may make me giggle all week long.
Particularly since G Adventures keeps sending me enticing emails about travel safe adventures to various destinations on the planet. I honestly don't see how this is safe. They took their first trip - a group of 12 courageous travelers went somewhere. I can't remember where.
And meetup groups keep planning back-packing and hiking trips. While tempting, getting there is an issue. One stated carpooling with five - eh, no. Or taking the subway up to Pelman in the Bronx, then a bus - also, no.
Meanwhile there are people getting on planes, taking off, and landing, for kicks. And it's sold out! LOL!
Snippet:
"In August, Nadzri Harif, a D.J. at Kristal FM radio station in Brunei, set foot in an airport for the first time in six months. The experience, he said, was exhilarating. Sure, moving through Brunei International Airport was different, with masks, glass dividers and social-distancing protocols in place, but nothing could beat the anticipation of getting on a plane again.
His destination: nowhere.
Mr. Harif is one of thousands of people in Brunei, Taiwan, Japan and Australia who have started booking flights that start and end in the same place. Some airlines call these “scenic flights”; others are more direct, calling them “flights to nowhere.”
