I saw that one in the theater. Yeah, its a good choice.

One I missed in the theater? Lawrence of Arabia,. I saw it first on old NTSB TV. It wasn't what people were telling me they saw. On HD-TV it was better, but I think it deserves a big screen.

This was my choice too. To watch LoA in full CinemaScope must be awe inspiring. Maybe Fathom Events will have a screening at some point in the future.

I'd expand this to say: "All David Lean movies." I've never seen Doctor Zhivago on the big screen, either.

A more modern choice? Would love to see Gravity in IMAX...

Agreed on all the David Lean films. I did see LoA in full CinemaScope in the 1980s, when they re-released a restored version of the film. It was amazing. This is a film that has to be seen on a big screen and in a movie theater. It's a favorite of mine, because I was able to see it on the big screen. Complete with intermission.

Gravity would work well in IMAX. I'm trying to remember if I saw it in the movie theater. I know I saw The Martian in the movie theater.

My rule for movie theaters - is anything with special effects, anything that is big in scope and is big on visuals. A lot of films don't require it, but the ones that do..

Gone with the Wind works better on a big screen - by the way. The movie is basically a series of paintings. (Say what you will about the subject matter, characters and plot, but it is a beautiful movie.)

I'm upset about Dune - I want to see that in a movie theater dang it.

I think I saw GwtW when it still was being reserved for special releases at theaters only, decades after its initial release. Romance isn't my genre, but you are absolute right about it being beautiful.

Yep, I can't say I like the plot, characters, or story - but my god - is it beautifully filmed. The Cinematographer deserved all the rewards he got for that film.

Oh, yes, Gravity would have looked good. I'm glad I got to see 2001 in the theater on the fiftieth anniversary rerelease. Also would like to get to see Blade Runner in the theater, at least I saw 2049 there.

I did get to see Blade Runner in its original release. There were about 10 people in the theater. It did not do well. My mother and I saw it together and loved it - far more than we did Back to the Future. Which we saw around the same period. We could not understand at the time why more people didn't love Blade Runner, and why so many adored Back to the Future instead. LOL!

Goodness, yes. Though on the visit to see "Titanic" again I broke with the group to instead see "Dark City" which was playing at roughly the same time. (-:

I can understand that - I'd have done the same. Once is enough with Titantic. (I knew I had a problem with Titantic - when I realized I was more interested in the group searching for the wreckage than I was in the Leo/Kate romance.)

It does. I actually got to see Lawrence of Arabia on the big screen, believe it or not. I saw the remastered edition - where they restored it, and re-released it on the big screen for the anniversary - way back in the 1980s with a friend in either junior high or high school.

It was AMAZING.

This is a film that must be seen on the big screen. I also got to see Apocalypse Now and Gone with the Wind - when they got reissued and put on big screens. I saw Apcocalypse Now on IMAX - I'm not sure that was wise with two work friends way back in the early 00s.
