This is Day 11 of the 30 Days of Television Challenge

Oh, I'm giving you fore-warning, I'm lifting/waiving the rules for one category on this meme/challenge - Day 27 - the rules don't apply to that day. (Rules are don't pick the same one as someone else, don't pick the same one that you previously picked - those two rules won't apply to Day 27. Mainly because that category is kind of impossible if I apply those rules.)

The prompt for Day 11 is A game show, competitive reality series, or home improvement series

(You can blame ATP_OMN for that one - he suggested it. You can also blame him for Day 27.)

Mine...

My niece and my brother got me hooked on this show last fall - we binge watched it one night. A hip-hop music performance/song-writing competition where the prize is getting your song and act produced - is a great inside look into the music business, and unlike most music reality series - focuses on the process. And I'm not a huge fan of hip-hop like they are - but they got me hooked.

I've been watching Jeopardy! my whole life. I started out with the original version (1964-1975), starring Art Fleming and picked right up with the revival in 1984 with Alex Trebek. The greatness of Jeopardy! is that it never plays down to the audience; it challenges both the contestant and the viewer to maximize their brain power.

Here's a clip of James Holzhauer setting the single game record:

I've always liked building things, and of course, I repair things for a living. While building things is generally considered a craft as opposed to an art, I would argue that craftsmanship without an artists eye is a rather soulless endeavor.

I'm also quite fond of architecture, and one of the things I most enjoy about the city where I live is the great variety of differently styled buildings within it. While I knew it was a dream only that I'd ever design and build my own home, that spirit still dwells faintly somewhere inside my aging brain.

This show, when it debuted on PBS back in 1979, immediately became a nearly obsessive watch.

One of its early spin-offs, The New Yankee Workshop was also very enjoyable.

I haven't watched any of the newer versions of This Old House more than occasionally, but those early years were certainly memorable.

I find this one highly amusing and the houses come out looking quite nice.

I watched the Brady Bunch House renovation series religiously. The neighborhood is maybe a 15 minute drive from mine so that was fun.

Take a 3D Tour of the Completely Restored 'Brady Brunch' House

During the COVID confinement, I don't know what I'd do without HGTV. It's better than Xanax.
