Ah, I've seen that one - it was brilliant. Stephen King tried to do an adaptation for the US, but it didn't work or even come close to what the original was.

I saw it in 1994 - I think. I rented it from a video store - I think that's how I saw it.

Forgot all about it.

It's kind of St. Elsewhere meets Twin Peaks by way of The Shining.

Yes, it's about a village and it goes from the 1800s to 2000.

Borgen. (2010-2013) In Danish with English subtitles. It's on Netflix. We've only seen season one so far but it was brilliant. We checked it out of the library. There are three series of this political drama, ten episodes each. According to Wikipedia, it's returning in 2022, which will be fascinating, if true.
