Day #301

I took a brief walk tonight, which posed some challenges - since it was 48 degrees and people were out making obstacles of themselves.



Kids playing football on the sidewalk, and yes, a maskless wonder sighting. Plus a truck. Walking around in a city poses challenges.

And I didn't get out quickly enough to loop around Greenwood Cemetery. I may try tomorrow - depending on the weather, and work.

Crazy workplace
Trying not to go crazy - I don't have enough work to be busy (and find myself resenting those who are busy), and struggling to find stuff to keep occupied that is "work" related. Because I have to account for my time weekly.

One project was put indefinitely on-hold, another seems to have fallen into an abyss as has the third - albeit different abysses. But hey, I've change orders and task order releases to keep me mildly busy. If I were at the office - I'd be doing filing, archiving, etc. But I'm not at the office - because it's not safe to go to the office at the moment. Although, I'm going to have to go back to the office eventually, and sooner than I'd like, to pick up my transportation pass and ID, which expire Feb 28. You'd think they'd mail them - but no, security issues. Even though Transit Check doesn't appear to have any issues with it.

Oh well, according to the Governor's State of the State Address today - they are expanding on infrastructure - so this is good news. Doing lots of building. I'm just not certain I'll be assigned a lot of it. But honestly, who knows at this point?

COVID

On the Kensington Neighborhood FB page - one of the moderators informed folks that the Brooklyn Army Terminal had to give out 470+ vaccines to 18+ by 7pm tonight. I found this confusing. In response, someone reported that they'd been taken by now, but there were doses available in the Bronx. Oh and apparently all the appointments have been booked for the next 14 days or more.

Oh, I just found out that it was a hoax. "Bill Neidhardt, press secretary to Mayor Bill de Blasio, quickly shut down this claim on Twitter, but the news had already spread. Approximately 500 people were in line at Brooklyn Army Terminal around 5pm, author and columnist Jessica Valenti wrote in a tweet that has since been deleted."

Sigh.

[The Big Mutant Zombie Apocalypse (that wasn't) continues. I'm waiting for intel to come out that aliens were behind the whole thing.]

Apparently, I'm not the only one who is finding the distribution effort to be confusing and chaotic. Is it better anywhere else?

By the by..the vaccine is perfectly safe, in case you were wondering. I got college friends, and ATPOBTVS fanboard friends who are nurses and doctors in the field, and relatives who've taken it - no side-effects to date. The only person who reported them, is Dochawk from ATPOBTVS fan board (he's a doctor and over 70). And it was minor. A college acquaintance who is a surgeon in Colorado, informed us that after her second dose - she was able to do 36 hours in the hospital, teach a three hour surgery course, and was planning on playing tennis and going skiing this weekend. The worst she had was a few aches and pains that lasted may two days, and could well be associated with all her other aches and pains. (I'd have preferred I didn't know all that - but I get why she shared it - to make it clear that it is safe.) Another closer friend and home health care aid/hospital medical assistant posted this:

mRNA is found in all living cells. So, sorry to break it to you, but you already have mRNA within you. This is because our cells need instructions on how to function. The mRNA vaccines add a chapter to this instruction manual: “how to properly to fight the COVID19 virus”.

Some vaccines are being developed and tested to target DNA. And they are ALSO safe (I can explain at another time). Viruses like HIV can integrate themselves into DNA, but this isn’t true of all viruses, and HIV can only do so with the help of special tools. None, of which, the COVID19 vaccines have. "


I trust my source. There's a lot of fear-mongering out there. Fact-check, and look into the sources. Trust mainstream media over the gossip chain that is social media.

I just wish the distribution of the vaccine was done better. It's all over the place. And I discovered the home COVID tests aren't that reliable nor will Crazy workplace or the government accept them for travel.

The Insurrection Fallout or the Big Mutant Zombie Apocalypse (that wasn't) fallout continues..

I saw this on Twitter and found it hilarious. (I've learned not to comment much on Twitter, people are itchy. I just lurk and retweet, and only comment to my friends or folks I know.)

I didn't know he was even in it, although mother apparently did. It was a marketing/advertising insert. Now they've digitally removed him. I think they should digitally insert someone else...so that the section makes sense.

I find it interesting that people think millions of people are supporting this insurrection, when only 10,000 showed up. They also think it's 24-39% of the population, it's less than 1%. I mean, we have 331 million people, of the 331 million, 66% of voting age-eligible adults voted in the last election, of that percentage? Less than 46% voted for him. So if you count the number who went third party and the number that voted for Biden, that's over 60% of the people who voted. The number who voted? 159.4 million. The problem with social media is that it is deceptive. Not everyone is on it, for one thing. And there's a lot of dummy accounts or fake accounts or robots - some implanted by foreign interests, such as China and Russia who are working to divide people.

Apparently people on Twitter think the Trump family may be attempting to steal stuff from the White House. I told this to mother, who burst out laughing. There's a picture on Twitter of Melania taking off with a bust, they are concerned it's the Lincoln Bust, and maybe someone needs to do an inventory? I can see it now - they start selling the items on E-bay.

And, the idiot carrying the Confederate Flag through the Capital Building Got arrested. Per Twitter, a lot of the insurrectionists had people who knew them that could not wait to personally turn them in.

Meanwhile, there's an indication that this round, the 45 will get convicted. (Miss the first go around, try try again.) Although, they may hold off or split the sessions in order to get a new national security team in place immediately. The next two months are going to be interesting. Actually, 2021 is turning out to be far more interesting than I'd wanted.

Oh and while attempting to post an article about the Vaccine being a rumor - I accidentally friended someone on the Kensington FB page. He messengered me and I told him that I think I accidentally friended him, while trying to post an article link.

New person: That's okay, I'm trying to friend the world.
Me: Well, as long as you are okay with the fact that I mostly post pictures of Greenwood Cemetery and I am VERY liberal.

I find it interesting that people think millions of people are supporting this insurrection, when only 10,000 showed up.

The news wants to blow everything out of proportion, so it's natural people think there were a lot more demonstrators than there actually were. I came in late on the live coverage but it looked like half the crowd, remained clear of the building. If people noticed crowds on the mall before, that wasn't a particularly big one.

I'm hoping all the arrests have put a damper on all but talk about raiding all the state capitals next week. I expect a small riot up in Phoenix, we have our share of right-wing crazies. The state government buildings will be empty, but they will want to show off for the cameras.

I agree. I honestly think it's not going to be that big a turnout. Social media and the 24/7 broadcast news media love to blow things out of proportion. Every storm is a natural disaster of epic proportions.

But some of the print media sources are being a bit more realistic.

No, the insurrection was scary because of who enabled it. That's why everyone is so upset. The far right terrorist groups (several were the heads of known terrorist organizations that the FBI was tracking), ability to invade the Capital Building, access to it, and knowledge of the floor plan - is kind of shaking the Republican Party to its core. It's also shaking up our National Security, Defense, and Domestic Terrorism groups, not to mention the police and military. The FBI is pissed off - because they sounded the alarm days before the insurrection and asked for a response.

They'd never have breached the gates or gotten in shooting distance, if they weren't helped by insiders. I mean we've had bigger groups of protestors - and that never happened in the past. There were violent protests in the 1960s that never got that far.

It's ironic because prior to the insurrection, Trump still had power in the Republican Party. Now? He has even been digitially removed from Home Alone 2. I think I'm going to get my third miracle/wish - that Trump go away.
