Raining. Actually, I think I just saw a flash of lightening and heard thunder in the distance? So possibly a thunderstorm? Maybe not?
But headaches are blessedly gone. First day in about five without a headache. Also, as a nice plus? The hot flashes are better tonight. Had them today - or I could just been hot, hard to know. I flipped on the A/C.
Crazy Workplace
It's been a day. I got a last minute assignment, and after spending 3-4 hours working my ass off on it, word crashed without saving anything.
I gave up - and let BYT Manager know that I'd be late, and she gave me an extension.
I was having a hot flash at the same time.
Meanwhile Gabe was fighting with the Union over the Telework From Home extension.
Union: It's up to management when you return to the office.
Management: It's up to the Union Reps when you return to the office not Executive Management.
Me: Oh for crying out loud - stop passing the buck and take responsibility. It's up to both of you - who do you think you are fooling with all of this back and forth nonsense. You are worse than a couple of toddlers.
I passed it to my union rep, the Executive Management email regarding how it was all their fault, and the information that most of the Procurement department is returning on July 14. I let Gabe know that the fight between the Company and the Union was over an "over-time clause" in the base contract. Actually, I can see the Union's perspective on this. The Company has gotten the better deal - in regards to the Telework at Home Agreement.
They get to make us work all hours - from home - with no overtime.
I've been watching Friends S5 episodes. I couldn't access them for a bit tonight, and got annoyed. Apparently my HBO MAX app booted me out of HBO MAX. To fix it - I had to delete the app, then re-install the app. Sign back in - which required getting a code, and putting it in the HBO log in site on my computer. Then stating I wanted access to ALL OF HBO MAX. I swear this is the worst streaming app interface that I've seen to date. [Apparently I'm experiencing technical difficulties today.]
I googled Mathew Perry of Friends, to see what he was doing and got more information than I bargained for. I didn't realize that Matthew Perry (Chandler) was fighting an addiction to pain killers - due to an injury as a result of a jet-ski accident, and alcoholism during this period. He had two stints in rehab - to save his life. And had his pancreas removed in the 9th season. In fact he disappeared for a bit in the later seasons of the show - 8-10th. I had stopped watching prior to that. I rarely make it past season 5 or 7 in television series. I honestly think most television series should be done in 5 seasons. Of the cast, he probably was the best with the one-liners and facial reactions. But he was also the most sensitive, and cared far too much about what others thought of him. Fame is toxic to pretty much everyone, but in particular sensitive souls. And they all got famous much too fast - and without any preparation. They went from being unknowns to famous in about three months. Add to that - comedic actors. They say Drama is easy, Comedy is hard. This is so true - mainly because comedy is in the eye of the beholder, and it's often painful. Actually all comedy comes from a place of emotional pain. We often make fun of things to keep from screaming or crying or both. I know I do. We laugh to keep from crying. Which is why it should come as no real surprise that some of most gifted comedians - were in pain, and struggling with mental illness.
As George Clooney once stated - Fame is the cancer of success. I couldn't handle it. Mother was telling me about the Japanese Female Tennis Champion who left the French Open due to the fact that she could not handle the interviews. And refused to do them in order to protect her mental health. She'd get anxious, and worry excessively over them - to the point in which it was hard to play. Also the audience's booing at matches threw her off her game.
Honestly, Tennis is a sport - it shouldn't require interviews.

Oh and I read on FB:
"List of Books to Read Before You Die:
1. Any book you want.
2. Don't read books you don't want to read
3. That's it.
4. Congratulations, you did it!"
I like that. I was an English Lit major and did the whole book club thing.
Also the Good Reads Challenges. But I'm done with all of that now. I read what I want, I review if I want to, or not as the case may be. I do audio books, e-books, and digital comics and graphic novels. And I don't care what anyone thinks about what I've read.

The Governor - I want to smack. He keeps telling everyone to go out and live life, to stop hunkering down. That we spent the last year just trying to survive, now we need to come out again and celebrate NY!
Yesterday, there were fewer than 17,000 COVID cases in the U.S. and New York, we saw a record-low positivity rate of 0.44 percent. And for the first time in over eight months, hospitalizations fell below 1,000. These numbers really show that vaccines work. New York is back, and that's a testament to the New Yorkers who have stayed tough and smart over the last year. The vaccines are safe, free, and effective, period, and the sooner we get each and every eligible New Yorker vaccinated, the sooner we can finish off this pandemic once and for all.
Except deaths were back up to 10, after dipping to 7 over the last few days.
I don't think he understands that that may work for the crazy-ass extroverts in the population. But others are grieving. And there's a few of us, who crawled into a hole during the pandemic, and don't really want to come out of that hole just yet. We would like to wait just a bit longer, if that is okay?

Date: 2021-06-04 03:50 am (UTC)Yeah, book list really stopped working for me when I developed a strong lack of willpower to read something I didn't, deep down, want to, even if I felt I should.
