But it is pretty and warm outside at least, and getting darker earlier...the days are slowly shrinking as we move into August.

Crazy Workplace is shifting my work around again. I'm going to lose a contract before I can solicit firms or go on a site tour. I'm not upset about this at all. I didn't like the contract that much. More than happy to get rid of it - should never have been assigned it to begin with, same with the other one. I prefer construction and infrastructure work to be honest. OTOH since this pandemic started, and crazy agency merged per legislative and governor dictate, I keep being given work - only to have it "disappear" or be "reassigned". I can't keep work to save my life apparently. Good news, I can procrastinate site tours for a bit longer - I may not have to do it until next year.

And I'll be inheriting other work in exchange. We're basically playing musical chairs or trading off work between each other. I'm almost positive that what spearheaded this - was well, moscow co-worker who is driving BYT manager nutty. He doesn't report to her, but his work has to be approved by her, and he refuses to follow her requirements. It's two A type personalities engaging in battle.

Boss's solution is to transfer his work to people who fall under BYT to do, and BYT has decided this is hardly fair to her people, so in retaliation she's transferring all of our work to him.

Crazy workplace never fails to amuse.

I also spent a lot of time today talking a reluctant and somewhat confused consultant into doing crazy workplace a big favor. It involves emergency change order - which I don't want to do, but realize has to be done in order to prevent a serious safety hazard. I finally managed to convey this to the consultant in such a way - that they feel it would be unethical to leave us high and dry.

In other news, insane union has decided to hold a huge Xmas in August Party on West Islip in Long Island.

The Christmas Party in August is Tonight! Free Open Bar, 7-11 PM, Live Band, and don't miss free raffles for a 1-85 inch TV 2-55 inch TV's plus more giveaways!with drinks, music, dancing, open bar, and a raffle.

They will have food and drinks.

Needless to say - I am not going. I wouldn't have gone in any event. It's four to five hours away on Long Island - by train, also not near the train to my knowledge. I despise my union. Have I told you how much I despise my union?

I seriously doubt any of my colleagues are going either.

The Governor's emails have halted. Possibly because his administration is in awry due to the Attorney General's Findings. They are also pissed off - because all that hard work, all that time and energy, trying to push a progressive agenda through - completely tainted by these findings.

It's hard to feel too sorry for them - since they kind of enabled it.
But,at the same time - they did do a lot of good. The problem with all of this - is that, well, folks are more than one thing. People do horrible and wonderful things often at the same time.

That said, I do think they are right to get rid of him - since he doesn't think he did anything wrong - and this means more women are at risk of being harassed and molested in the workplace.

Crazy org - sent not one but two emails to me today (I get emails in duplicate now)- informing me that they did not support nor did they endorse the Governor's behavior, and in light of the findings, they wanted to reiterate that if anyone felt they were the victim of similar behavior - they should feel safe to report it without any repercussions. It's ironic in a way - I've taken so many workplace sexual and race discrimination/harassment courses since joining crazy org. Some online, some in person, and in recent years filled out and sent back a form stating I'd read the regulations and understood the laws regarding sexual harassment etc in the workplace. We all have to take it and sign it. We're aware of the rules. We're also aware that people in the legislature and Governor's office break these rules and have gotten away with it.

Mother: You're having troubles getting rid of your Governor.
Me: Yep. He is not going away without a fight.
Mother: Can they really file criminal charges against him?
Me: Well, Executive Assistant # 1 did, which doesn't surprise me - he apparently slid his hand under her breast and groped her at an event in the Governor's mansion, and solicited her sexually on more than one occasion. But whether groping a breast is really a criminal offense is not clear.

He has some criminal and civil charges being filed against him and his administration. Melissa De Rosa, his Secretary of State, is also being charged and her name is throughout the report. She got into it on Twitter with a reporter, then deleted her tweet - according to NY1. I don't remember seeing her name throughout the report, but I admittedly dosed off reading it - it's dry.

Sigh. 2021 is just about as topsy turvy as 2020. Gotta love watershed years. Although these are the water shed years to beat all water shed years. I thought 2001 and 2002 were bad. They also always happen around US Presidential elections for some reason.

Apparently the item that the UK embassy requires from my brother for the student visa - is a parental consent form. But they failed to provide one or even inform him what they wanted or what the form looked like. So he's searching the internet for parental consent forms for student visas. If you are reading this and know what the UK embassy is talking about - feel free to chime in.

Some good news. Apparently mother's friend who was getting heart valve surgery doesn't have COVID after all - it was a false positive. They are treating the infection with antibotics. His wife can visit again and they are going through with the surgery. Also her friends who went to Germany for radioactive cancer treatment have returned safely, and it looks good.
Mother was in a slightly better frame of mind today as a result.

Happy to have survived to Friday. Set up ophthalmologist doctor's appointment, which was easier than expected. Got it for Columbus Day weekend. Friday before. Now just have to get dentist. Next doctor - will be in November.

Also need to start scaling back further on the sugars, sigh.

One day at a time as they say.

Below is a picture of the pretty flower garden that I pass on my way to the pharmacy and to the subway station.

One day at a time, indeed, though I don't expect Cuomo to last to the end of this month.

Oh, groping somebody's breast would be indecent assault in Britain.
