Working remotely today, one more day left of remote work before we head back en mass next week. And to make life more confusing, they are requiring us to swipe our cards at the time clocks as opposed to punching in. Personally I think the time clocks are stupid, we swipe in to get into the building and to get out of it. But whatever.

Social media is depressing and demoralizing today.

But hey, work was better. (If I had to choose, I'd rather have work be better than social media.) Of course I'm at home doing it, and was able to take a break and get laundry done. I've a feeling Crazy Workplace is going to have issues with a demoralized workforce. The only happy people are the evil marketing folks.

Also, the Car's Extended Warranty Scam has been replaced by the Emergency Medical Alert Scam. They will not stop calling. And they are sneaky - they scramble numbers and use one's different from their own. Plus side of going back to the office? I don't have to deal with them interrupting me at work any longer.

BYT manager even complimented me today. Told me that she respected my process and work ethic. Mother thinks they have to start doing this - or they'll lose people. Already lost one key player, and more to follow. They can't take their staff for granted.

Did laundry, saw one person with a mask waiting for the elevator, and one without getting off the elevator with her laundry. It wasn't much and it's the last time I can do it during the day on Thursday. I could try on Thanksgiving - but it was packed the last time, I attempted that. But if I do it during the meal hour - it might work. My game plan is to binge watch Peter Jackson's Beatles Documentary on Disney Plus on Thanksgiving.

My time clock is still off. I keep thinking it is later than it actually is. Or is that earlier? I don't know, my body is confused, not helped by the different wake up times. I have gotten up at 5:45, 6:00, 6:30 and 8:30 this week. I really need to stick with 5:45 for the week - which is another plus of going back to the office, I'll be getting up at 5:45 every day.

I would post news snippets, but they are depressing.

A few entertainment things:

* Leticia Wright who played Shuri in The Black Panther may be out and require recasting due to an injury and being unvaccinated

* There's a controversy over Aaron Sorkin defends casting choices for film about Lucille Ball and Desni Arnez - Being the Ricardos - apparently people are upset about Nicole Kidman being cast, I've no clue why, apparently they think Debra Messing would have been better? IDK. Don't care. Actually, Kidman being cast would get me to watch - out of curiosity if nothing else.

* Apparently they have a sequel to the Downton Abbey Movie, but missing Michael Goode (or he'll have a limited role), he plays Mary's second husband. Downton Abbey, a New Era. [I swear they have issues with the actors playing Lady Mary's husbands, none of them want to stick around.]

* An erupting volcano from space - because it's cool.

* Aww.. Dogs make great support animals for nervous cheetahs..

Cheetahs and dogs weren’t always friends. And at first glance, the feline-and-canine couple seems an odd pairing—one that turns heads for its cuteness, if not its unconventionality.

But the practice of rearing young cheetahs with a canine companion has become a major means of relaxing the notoriously nervous cats at U.S. zoos from New York to San Diego.

The relationship didn’t begin there, however. Nor, for that matter, did it start on an African wildlife reserve. Captive cheetahs and dogs first became friends in a small town in Oregon.

In 1976, research scientist and conservation biologist Laurie Marker was living in Winston, a town of about 3,000 people. As the curator of a cheetah-breeding program at Wildlife Safari, she found herself hand-rearing a lonely cheetah cub named Khayam.

Cheetahs are companionable litter-mates, but Marker had no other cats to put with Khayam. So she decided to try pairing the fastest land mammal on the planet with the animal typically thought of as a human’s best friend.

In other news..familial.

Mother keeps threatening to bring father home to take care of full time. But at least the long-term care facility is continuing to talk her out of it. They told her that he'd need two full time care givers, besides her, to help lift and move him, and assist him in various daily tasks. That he's happy enough where he is, and seems to have adjusted to the care that they are providing, and foresee no reason to move him. Mother, however, remains unconvinced - since he keeps asking her to take him home or when can he go home.

She's decided that he probably lost his wedding ring at the hospital. But he doesn't appear to have realized that it is gone. Also he was sleeping a lot today. He was asleep when she visited him after her PT appointment at 10 AM, and in the afternoon, around 2 PM, when she came back. So, she's a little worried about him.

A friend of hers took her to choir tonight.

Me: Were they wearing masks?
Mother: Nope. No one wears masks.
Me: They all wear masks here.
Mother: They figure they are all vaccinated - so don't have to.

Mother apparently rarely wears them in her home around the home health care workers either. I wear a mask more than anyone in my family does, including my niece. Maybe something is wrong with me? No, everyone in NYC wears masks or most of us do. And everyone at work does.
