Mar. 23rd, 2022 09:49 pm1. Spiderman No Way Home is finally available to buy on streaming - Apple TV, Amazon and Vudu. I'll probably buy it this weekend for $20. Ditch my 12.95 a month National Theater Live subscription.
"Spider-Man: No Way Home," the highest-grossing movie of 2021, is now available to watch on-demand; the film was originally scheduled to release digitally on March 22, but the release date was moved up one week to March 15.
Though the movie is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it won't be included on Disney Plus. Instead, it's currently only available to buy for $20 from streaming retailers like Amazon and Vudu.
With stars like Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Benedict Cumberbatch, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" ends a trilogy of films in the MCU that began with "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home." The film also brings back characters from the earlier trilogy of "Spider-Man" movies starring Tobey Maguire, and "The Amazing Spider-Man" films series starring Andrew Garfield.
"Spider-Man: No Way Home" recently surpassed "Avatar" as North America's third-highest grossing movie release, generating $760 million in the domestic box office. The film has grossed $1.8 billion globally, making it the sixth-highest earner in film history. The movie also received critical acclaim, and currently holds a "93% Certified Fresh" rating on review-aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

"Spider-Man: No Way Home" is now available to watch at home through most video-on-demand retail services. You can buy the movie from Vudu, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and the Google Play Store for $20.
$19.98 from Amazon
$19.98 from Vudu
$19.98 from Apple TV
A cheaper rental option will likely be available in the near future, but a release has not been confirmed. Rentals are typically available on the same day movies are released for purchase or about a month after. Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray versions of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" will launch on April 12 for collectors who prefer a physical copy of the film.
Is 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' coming to Disney Plus or Netflix?
Sony's streaming contracts for films like "Spider-Man: No Way Home" will keep it off Disney Plus and Netflix when it's released digitally — at least initially.
Instead, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is set to make its subscription video debut on Starz, the cable network and streaming service. "Spider-Man: Homecoming" is available on Starz right now too.
Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch recently said "Spider-Man: No Way Home" should be available on Starz within the next six months. You can subscribe directly to Starz for $9 a month; a current deal offers three months for $5 or six months for $20.
Sony completed a separate deal with Netflix for films released in 2022 and beyond, so it's possible that "Spider-Man: No Way Home" will end up on Netflix after the initial release window with Starz is over.

2. I love this song by "The Chicks" and sung by Beyonce with the Chicks.
Daddy Lessons
and here's The Chick's version of it:
I love both - but Beyonce's voice nails some of it.
3. On a personal note? I got my blood pressure meds. They had them. I'm so relieved.
Mother: You must be relieved.
Me: Yeah, I had this whole worrisome storyline played out in my head on how it would go on down - and it didn't happen at al.
Mother: You are definitely my daughter.
Later she told me a story about the day I was born. We were discussing moments of being touched by "grace" or "god" or "the universe".
Mother: I had one of my best moments when my first child was born. Then I was touched by god. I held you in my arms. You were so tiny, and so precious, with a full head of hair - and it was crazy hair - it was frost tipped. The ends were blond as if you got a frost job.
ME: Kind of like highlights?
Mother: Yes, tipped with blond or white.
Me: And now, I have it again.
Mother: It was just the ends. And your eyes were so very blue. They say all babies have blue eyes, but that's not true - your brother's eyes were very dark brown. But your grandmother...I remember looking into hers towards the end and hers were so beautiful - the color of sapphires.
My mother is 25 years older than I am, and her mother was 25 years older than she was, and fifty years older than me. If my gran were still alive, she'd be 105.
Another bit of good news - I was right, my entire little group, managers included - unanimously does not want to go to head honchos party. BYT said their intent may have been in the right place, but just no. It's not only a pain to get there, but it's still a pandemic, and some of us are germaphobes, and don't particularly want to go to a crowded office party without masks, and everyone breathing on the food.
Plus, it's not like we aren't busy or anything.
There's not many of us in this little group - just seven.
4. And here's... Redesigning Women by the Highway Women
And..a gender flip on The Highway Men ...The Highway Women
And the original version Highway Man.
5. Today once again, I was reminded of how differently people view things...
Gabe posted on FB and keeps mentioning at work all the things she does. She studies on her commute, reads books on botany, and on her phone watches youtube videos educating herself. She wants to be a professional florist and landscape designer. People are impressed with how much work she's doing. In an attempt to be snarky - she quips : "What are other people doing on the phones and commutes?"
And I thought, not everyone has the same job or life you have. Some sleep.
Some relax. Some read. Some eat. Some play games. Some text their kids. Some post amateur photos.
And on Soap Twitter - where fans were upset that a character they despised was doing something nice, and having a nice conversation with a character they preferred. And both were shown in a nice light - they couldn't whine about her. Their reaction was fury.
They felt the character was out of character. That for years she had an ingrained misogyny because she preferred hanging with men. Etc. (Women were calling her a tramp to her face.) And people who disagreed or saw it differently were in bizarro world - because of course their view was the only valid one.
This same group of fans? Gets upset when one of their fav's gets slammed.
My god. I wonder if people see themselves or rather read themselves? Do we?
I ask myself if I am a hypocrite sometimes without meaning to be. I think so. Contradicting myself.
At any rate - I've been restraining myself from fighting with folks on Soap Twitter over a fictional soap opera character. It's really not worth the bandwidth or the time and energy. Been there done that with television characters in the past, still have the battle wounds.
Also...I kind of like this statement from Twitter:
"A fighter never knows when it's the last bell. He doesn't want to face that. We have distorted views, pictures of how our lives should be.'"
It's raining finally. And it is time to sleep. Good night.

Date: 2022-03-24 07:22 am (UTC)Found this online back in 2015. In a post the other day you mentioned that you know a number of "religious atheists". I get your meaning, although I might use a different term than religious as the modifier. Empathy might be a good choice, as in "empathetic atheists". I'd consider myself to be one of them.

Date: 2022-03-24 07:44 pm (UTC)I mean religious.
In that the atheists in question "religiously" attend church every week and are heavily involved in the rituals and services, but don't believe in god. I know of some Jews who do the same - they follow the rituals, but have no belief in God per se. Also quite a few other religions I can name. (I studied religion - there are numerous "religions" that have zip to do with god. Humanism is one of them.)
A "religious" individual tends to like the community and "religious" practices, traditions, and dogma. Rituals. They need the "spiritual practice" - but prefer it to be in a community or with others. "Religious" is often "worshiping with others". But as far as "GOD" is concerned - they either do not believe in God or don't know or care. Arethusa on the ATPOBTVS board, for example was a devout Catholic but also an atheist. It's possible. And my church is about 50% atheist, possibly more. Very religious, practice, involved in choir, the worship service etc, but do not believe in God. They even sing songs about God - but they do not believe in God.
In fact the UU Church has churches that are "Humanist" - which is not belief in god, it's a religious group that is based on social justice and humanism. They are basically "religious" atheists. They are very religious and their practice is a religion - in that they are devout, fervent, pious, and follow their rituals, and ceremonies to the letter - just aren't really all that spiritual about it, although you can have a spiritual practice that isn't based on a belief in God - it could be in nature.
You can be empathetic and believe in God. Empathy has absolutely nothing to do with theism or atheism. You can be religious and empathetic. Quite a few highly religious folks have empathy. While you can be an atheist and have zero empathy. Empathy doesn't equal theism or atheism. They two have zip to with each other. Nor does empathy have much to do with religion or spirituality. It's not a direct result of either. There's no causal relationship between them. It's like saying:
I love the color purple
I am an atheist
All atheists love purple
No.
Same here..
I'm empathetic
I'm an atheist
All atheists are empathetic
That is what we call an illogical syllogism. Being empathetic doesn't necessarily mean you are an atheist, and vice versa.
What is true is
All atheists do not believe in god
You don't believe in god
Therefore you are an atheist.
The difficulty here - is a lot of people for reasons that escape me think "morality" is synonymous with "Religious" and "a belief in god". It's not. See above. I know a lot of amoral religious people (90% of the Conservative Party at the moment) and quite a few moral irreligious folks. Just as I know a lot amoral theists, atheists, agonistics, and polytheists, and moral athesists, theists, agnoistists and polytheists. Whether or not you happen to believe in god, the universe, multiple gods or what have you doesn't necessarily mean you are a nice, kind, caring, moral individual. You could be a sociopath or a narcissist. I know we want to pigeon hole folks - but it's not possible. People are woefully complex and contradictory and changeable organisms. They don't pigeon hole or categorize well.
The other problem is a lot of folks think religious is synonymous with belief in God. It's not.
I'm not even sure we can say spirituality is. You can be spiritual and not believe in a God or in many gods. I know a lot of spiritual folks who don't believe in God or aren't theists.
Theism is belief in god. Atheism is not believing in god. That's it. End. Can't read anything else into either. Agnosticism is not sure what you believe in and being open to possibilities. I.e - you admit you have no clue. That's it. Nothing else. Judging folks on whether they believe in god or not is kind of stupid. People should stop that.

Smart. That's me with basically any character/fandom these days. Sometimes I'm tempted to respond to someone and then tell myself that I don't have any interest in the drama anymore and just let it go.
Like you said, some of these fans are just irrational when it comes to characters they hate. I have friends who are into soap operas/the fandom on twitter and from a distance, I can see it can be a lot. It really isn't worth your time and energy.
