Just recieved the following nasty email from Ao3

The AO3 Policy & Abuse committee has received a complaint that several of your works are not fanworks:

"Film Review of Last Chance Harvey", located at https://archiveofourown.org/works/40265466
"Film Review of Bridesmaids", located at https://archiveofourown.org/works/40244649

During the course of our investigation, we have determined that the majority of your other works are also not fanworks.

This is a violation of Section IV.H. of our Terms of Service. AO3 is an archive for the preservation of fanfiction and other transformative fanworks. Non-fanworks may not be uploaded to the Archive. Examples of non-fanworks include social media posts, fic searches, ads, prompts or requests, lists of other works, personal messages, empty works, and any other non-transformative content.

While fannish nonfiction (including what is widely termed "meta") is permitted on AO3, the Archive is not a journaling service. We do not consider responses to movies or episode reactions to be non-ephemeral fanworks, regardless of how analytical they are.

Accordingly, we require you to remove all of your non-fanworks from the Archive within 7 days. If you don't remove the violating content by the given deadline, we will hide any violating works from public view. You will be able to access the hidden works via the direct links provided in the automatic emails you will receive when the works are hidden. If the works are not removed within a week of being hidden, an Archive administrator will delete the works.

A warning has been placed on your account as a result of this violation. We recommend that you review your account to ensure that your other works are in compliance with the Terms of Service. If you do not remove all violating content, or if you violate the Terms of Service again, you may be temporarily or permanently suspended.

I'm tempted to delete my entry completely remove all my works. So pissed. They do not clarify and I got confused - from folks on my flist, I thought I could post episode reviews and reviews of films. And they have "reviews" in there, and movies listed.

I thought you could post reviews on there too. That sucks.

The rules have always confused me a bit. I used to post some of my vids on there and I remember how surprised I was to learn that if you included the lyrics to the song you'd vidded they'd delete your post entirely for 'plagiarism'.

Is it possible to import your posts en masse from ao3 to dreamwidth? If that's possible, you could just make a separate account for it.

They are already in DW. I imported them to Archive from DW. So if I delete them, they are still here in my journal.

Ah, that's good then, you don't have to worry that you'd lose anything in case they decide to delete your account.

I won't lose anything. There's no original content on that site. Also all the content is from 2003-2012. So it's old content that I no longer really care that much about, I just thought I'd share it with people.

Wait ~ reviews aren't fanworks now?

I follow yourlibrarian and they've been posting a huge number of reviews; essays etc Not something I read much of, but surely they're just as much fanworks as fanfic.

I don't understand that at all.

She got the same complaint I did. So we both stopped posting reviews to it.
