1. Do you make daily to-do lists? If yes, do you usually successfully clear them?
No. I used to at work - but they got too long, and I gave up due to lack of desk space.
2. What is your favourite piece of clothing? Do you have a different favorite for each season? [ Do the Brits spell favorite - favourite? Or does this person just not have spellcheck?]
Sleeveless tank top that I'm currently wearing, also sweat pants from LL Bean. Both soft cotton. Can't wear together of course - different seasons.
3. When did you last interview for a job? Did you get it?
Yes, in it. (I hate interviewing for jobs, regardless of the side of the fence I'm on - I've been on both sides. It's torture either way. This may explain why I'm still single and don't move that often - since I've been told dating and apartment/house hunting is the same.)
4. Teacher or student?
Student.
5. What comes to mind when you think of fear?
Spiders, Driving, Closed in Spaces like tunnels, and Heights
6. What is your favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning?
[Someone who doesn't know how to spell favorite or doesn't have spell check came up with this meme.]
Sit and play on my laptop, in the quiet, make breakfast, eat it slowly in front of the television, stare out my window at the trees and sky. Be quiet.
7. Where do you think your road is going?
At the moment? Straight up hill, and I'm tired.
8. What was the last bad movie you watched right to the bitter end? Why did you keep watching?
I'm trying to remember? I honestly don't remember what it was. Is that bad? Probably not.
9. August 9 is "Book Lover's Day". What book are you loving right now? If you're not loving any book at the moment, what book have you previously loved?
Actually the current ones - are kind of enjoyable. I am loving the audiobooks "Act I The Sandman" and "Act II The Sandman" narrated and read by an all-star cast.
Also enjoying Spin the Dawn a fantasy novel about a young female tailor in a village in China (I think it is China in the fantasy), who disguises herself as her crippled brother in order to become the Emperor's Tailor.
It's focus is more on the skill of the craft and her journey to becoming a tailor at the moment.
10. If your home was being redone on one of those house makeover/reno shows, what would you want to have done to your home?
I live in an apartment - it won't be. But if it was? I'd redo the bathroom, for a stone shower stall that I can walk into and a stone toilet, that easily flushes. And build in towel racks. I'd also put in a terrace off my living room. And put in new windows and window treatments. Plus built in bookcases.
But I live in NYC - I'm lucky to have the place I have.
You know someone is wealthy, or has connections - if they can do that in NYC.
11. If you were forced to take part in a reality/competition show (e.g. Big Brother, Survivor, Bake Off, etc.), but you could choose which show to be on, what would you pick?
Great Pottery Throw Down or the Great British Bake Off. Everyone is nice on those shows, and if you get kicked off early - you get to come back later for a great party.
12. What's the most illegal thing you've done?
Hmm. Maybe Hash in England? Or Shrooms and Pot in Colorado?
13. If you had to tattoo your arm with a message to yourself, what would you write?
Breath
It would be short - I am not a fan of pain or tattoos. The shorter the better.
14. If you could earn the same pay no matter what job you did, would you pursue another profession? If so, what would you choose, and why?
Novelist, Screenwriter, playwriter (I'd say television writer - but I don't like collaborations)
15. Would you be happier with more control over what happens in your life or more control over your response to what happens?
More control over what happens. (I can already for the most control my responses...although it varies.)
16. If you were a role model to millions of children who closely followed you and your life choices, how would you change your behavior?
I don't think I would.
17. Do you squeeze the toothpaste tube or roll it? What’s the advantage of your method?
Squeeze - I don't like tooth paste seeping out of the cracks in the roll - which it does if you roll it.
18. Using only one word per person, what was your first impression of each person present with you now?
I don't have anyone with me at the moment, and ugh, what an insane question.
19. What books on your shelf are begging to be read?
Pretty much all of them - I've not read any of them - I kind of put away the ones I did read.
20. What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep, toss and turn, or get up and try to do something productive?
Take CBD so I can sleep? Do meditation exercises, count breaths. Used to toss and turn - but the weighted comforter stopped that and helped tremendously. Also cool down the room. (It's usually because I'm too hot or uncomfortable).
21. Which do you do more often: hum or whistle?
Hum - I can't whistle.
22. When you’re alone at home, do you wear shoes, socks, slippers, or go barefoot?
Barefoot or socks
[I may wear fluffy slippers with no toes - kind of thong slippers.]
It's rude to wear shoes in an apartment - people below can hear you thumping about.
23. Who’s the biggest “pack rat” you know?
Currently my mother. [I throw stuff out, so does my brother.] But mother isn't that bad - her's was worse. She's thrown stuff out.
24. What is your most unusual nighttime or morning ritual?
I don't think I have one?
25. How do you get rid of pesky phone calls from telemarketers/scam callers?
Block the call and use a service on landline (or cable line) that blocks calls.
26. Have you ever square-danced or line-danced? When was the last time you did any sort of dancing (not counting when alone in your home!)?
Yes. It was back in 2006? Contra-Dancing. I sucked at it. I have no coordination, and can't tell my right from my left. I can dance very well by myself but I can not do choreographed, couple or group dancing to save my life. I'm always off. Have same problem with aerobics or group work out classes of any kind. The other people throw me off.
27. When you leave a room, do you turn the lights off behind you or keep the lights on throughout your house most of the time?
I try to turn the lights off behind me. But for some bizarre reason, I left them on, yesterday after I left - and they were on from 12:45 pm to 8pm, I'm annoyed with myself. Or it was ghost gaslighting me, god knows. I think I need a few days to not think and veg?
28. How frequently do you purchase lottery tickets?
Rarely. And only with a group of people at work - so once or twice in a blue moon. I am NOT a gambler. And you kind of have to be to purchase them with any frequency.
29. Have you ever been an audience member for any television shows? Which ones? If you haven't, would you like to be? For which shows?
Yes. David Letterman - way back in 1999 or 2000. John Stewart was his guest. And it was not what I thought. And no, I wouldn't want to redo it - unless it was Oprah's Favorite Things and she was giving out prizes and gift bags to her audience.
30. When was the last time you sat on a park bench for more than ten minutes? Describe the occasion.
Yesterday. Eating ice cream with Wales, in a garden of a restaurant near Brooklyn Bridge Park.
31. When something is funny, do you usually laugh raucously, hiss, snort, chuckle quietly to yourself, or smile and nudge the person next to you?
Depends on what it is? I usually laugh loudly, sometimes snort, often chuckle quietly to myself, and at times just smile.
