Oct. 13th, 2022 08:25 pm1. Can't they just indict Trump, then quickly execute him for treason, and be done already? Anyone whines about it - deport them to Russia or Venezuela. Nah just Russia, they'd only swim back here from Venezuela. Russia is further.
[According to NY1 - Mexico has agreed to take the Venezuelan asylum seekers off the US's hands. We can deport them back to Mexico and Mexico will take custody. Poor migrants. Some of them swam here. I don't know how, but they literally jumped off their sinking boats and swam. I'd be pissed if I went through that sort of ordeal only to be shipped back to Mexico. If they wanted to go to Mexico - they'd have gone to Mexico - Sheesh. See? This is why I'm not really watching the news.]
Bloody tired of Trump. I've been wanting him to go away for the last fifteen years now and he refuses to do it. Die already! He's like this giant cockroach - we just can't get rid of him.
2. Mother called to give me the latest news blurb on niece.
Mother: Hi, I just called to give you the latest news blurb on your niece.
Me (now what? That kid has done more this year than I've done in the last five): Okay. {I'd been in the middle of watching Monarch.) I have a headache. (Most likely tension, sinus and weather related, not necessarily in that order.)
Mother: Oh I'm sorry.
Me: Yeah well...probably sinuses. What's your news?
Mother: Your niece broke up with her boyfriend.
Me: Really? Why?
Mother: He wanted her to move to DC and move in together. She said no. And broke up with him.
Me: Interesting.
Mother: She said that she didn't want to live in DC and had no intention of moving there. Your brother told me that he's been calling her non-stop, crying, in tears, pleading - but she just says no, she's not changing her mind and its over.
Me: So she's not upset at all?
Mother: nope. Your brother said he was rather proud of how she handled it. She didn't budge and she stood her ground. He's not relieved, he liked the boy - and thought the boy was good for her. But he liked how she dealt with it. I found out - because I called him when he was picking her up from the train station, and I asked if she and her boyfriend were on the phone a lot - and he said, no, they broke up. I was a bit taken aback.
Me: I'm not. I was kind of waiting for it.
Mother: Really?
Me: She kind of made it clear to me a year ago that she's not ready for any of that - doesn't want to get married, doesn't want to have kids, and she didn't really seem in love with him in that way. While he was clearly head over heels in love with her - felt imbalanced to me, and that never works. Also she has her parents epic love story in her head.
Having had my own parents epic love story, plus my brother's to live with - I can see her point of view. When your parents have a great romance, and fit each other almost perfectly, then you tend to be picky about who you hook up with. You are not going to settle for anyone.
Also, he wanted things she didn't. And she's only 18, she has a lot of exploration to do on her own first. Why live with some boy in DC, when you can live at home, commute to NYC, live in your god-father's vacant apartment free of charge?
3. Work is driving me nuts. Cubicle Aisle Mate is now permanently the guy with the muscles and tattoos and bald head. He is nice though. That's actually a plus - I was hoping he'd get that job. He's a known quantity and gets along well with everyone.
Workplace keeps changing and gets crazier daily.
Told mother about my day, her response? "Sounds like you have a lot of complicators?" ME: You think. Mother: Also just listening to you tell me about it - gives me a headache. Me: Me too. It makes me tired.
4. I've decided to arrange a COVID Booster Shot and possibly a flu shot through my pharmacy. Work has become too difficult to get it from logistically (it's only available from 8-4pm and only at certain locations and only in the middle of the week - which is not workable at all for numerous reasons) - plus they are willing to pay me up to two hours worth if I get it on my own time.
They were discussing COVID and Flu shots on the news this morning.
Pat (morning news anchor): Apparently we're being encouraged to get the COVID and Flu shots at the same time now. But here's the thing - how can we do it in the middle of the week? What if you have a reaction? I always did mine on a Friday - give myself a little time in between.
Traffic Desk: Yeah, I agree. You should have some recovery time. Particularly if you are getting both of them.
I've never had much of a reaction - but there's always a first time.
