Apr. 16th, 2005 11:57 amStill waffling on the whole DVD thing. My difficulty is I can't make up my mind on which ones to get - here are my options:
BTVS S6
BTVS S7
Ats S5
Wonderfalls
West Side Story Collector's Edition
Ugh.
: (yes, you can tell I'm in a good mood by the snark. When I get depressed, I get poetic, when I get cheerful, I get snarky.)
Saw Tru Calling the last two weeks. It's surprisingly better. Not only watchable but actually interesting. They are playing with whether Tru is doing the right thing or not. And developing the main characters rather nicely as well as making the story slightly twisty in places. Much better than last season. And well, even last season was more watchable than that mess that was Point Pleasant. (Sorry guys, just found that show unwatchable.)Now if only I could get the last 10 episodes of Wonderfalls.
Veronica Mars? Is getting really interesting. Becoming a show I actually can't wait to see each week. Enjoying the character interaction and development.
Also the noir overtones. Is Logan Echolls and Duncan Kane - Veronica's version of the femme fatales? Cool. Weevil - the hooker with the heart of gold? Possibly one of the best new shows this season. Not surprised it got picked up for a second season - sort of guessed that already.
Grey's Anatomy - two problems: 1) Patrick Dempsey's character, I honestly hope there's more to him than cute supportive dreamboat doctor. 2) the lead character should not have four guys want to hit on her in one episode as if she's the only attractive female in the cast. It stretchs suspension of disbelief and makes her less likable. The writers need to tone down the romantic elements a bit and work with the interactions between the students.
Medium? I gave up on it finally. It became just a little too sentimental.
Joan of Arcadia? Not sure about it. Not sure the hints that there's a devil wandering around work. Or that he's talking to Adam. A reverse Adam and Eve?
Bit too obvious there. And moves away from what's working on the show - the family and people interactions, with just a mild supernatural overtone. Go too far with the religion bit and you just get silly - which is what happened with Point Pleasant and Revelations. (I tried Revelations, but found it unwatchable. Shame since I enjoy the actors. The writing? Too pompous and far too preachy for my taste. Also I'm having difficulties with "religion" right now. Fine with God, fine with spirituality. But I can't quite get past the view that organized religion may be the root of all evil or promotes hate over love, exclusion over inclusion, violence over peace. I fear Joan of Arcadia may be going down the same road.)
Eyes...has potential. Have decided to tape and watch the next day for a while. (It's on past my bedtime. I get up at 6:45 am, so am in bed trying to sleep by 10:30pm) I like the characters, not overly fond of the procedural gimmicks, which annoy me on 24 as well.
24...is it just me or is this season not as entertaining and gripping as the last one? I miss Dennis Hayesbert, Nina, Sherrie Palmer, DB Woodside, Kim,
and Chase more than I thought I would. Audrey annoys me. William Devane doesn't have enough to do. The President was so dull, I didn't care his plane blew up. And Michelle seems too stiff this season - bring back Alberta Watson.
Lost? A rerun. Same with Gilmore Girls. Missing those also.
Missing Battlestar Galatica...already. Was the best damn show this year. Nothing comes close to it.
