Fell down a bit of a rabbit hole - looking at lists of horror flicks that were so bad, people walked out during them. I was reading the list at lunch, made it halfway through before I gave up - disgusted by how depraved the human imagination truly can be. And the realization that a lot of these things probably do happen.

Then tried to find the list again, but found a far less deprived one.

Microsoft Edge (my workplace's browser) likes to throw lists at me. Ten worst movies, 20 horror flicks that were so horrible people walked out of them or they've been banned, 10 great movies, etc.

Google doesn't do it at all. Firefox just throws articles at me.

So, I also hunted a list of horror novels...I prefer horror novels to movies, because I have a visual memory.

Here's Esquire's List of the 50 Best Horror Novels of all time - weirdly I've read more of these than expected. There's a lot of old books on that list.

No, I've not read or heard of their number 1 pick. But most of the books towards the end of the list? Yup.

Oh and here's the list of horror flicks that were so scary and disturbing, people walked out of the movie theater, if you want to look at them.. Movies so disturbing people left the movie theater

Off to read a romance novel and maybe a comic book - before going to bed.

I was trying to figure out if Gummo was a book or a movie? It's a movie and yes, it sounds horrible.
Honestly, that has to be the most depraved horrific list of films. Human Centipede II is bad all on its own (I refuse to read the description - I already know what it is about). And damn, I couldn't watch the trailer of Martyrs.

Irreversible? I already knew about - I had a very disturbing discussion about it way back when it first came out, at a video store (when we still had video stores) with two video store clerks who'd seen it - and one who, ahem, loved it for reasons that made my skin crawl. Thankfully, I've never seen that boy again.

I'm not a fan of disturbing horror. Movies that are basically just torture porn? No thank you. Thanks for the books list! I shall check it out

Neither am I. I didn't watch any of the movies. (I could barely watch the trailers...and they kind of bothered me last night. Just no.) I like psychological horror - but I've learned to be careful what I watch.
