I managed to get tomorrow and Monday off. BYT told me to take today off - and Monday. Nothing was going to happen any how.
Didn't get a thing done today - spent a lot of time spinning my wheels. BYT took pity on me. She told me that she doesn't want to overwhelm me - she learned her lesson last year. Also I'm really all she has left. Between me and Babs, she prefers me.
I've come to the conclusion that I've a genetic disposition towards severe anxiety and it runs in my family. Several cousins changed jobs or quit jobs due to anxiety. My mother has always struggled with anxiety and depression.
My niece struggles with it. And my mother's sister did. Either that or anxiety is a prevalent condition, and we all have it to varying degrees. Most likely both.
Right now, it's under control. I seem to have a handle on it. But the next two weeks are going to be hell on wheels. I'm glad I didn't book a trip in August. I have back to back site tours, and six teams meetings that I have to facilitate, along with everything else.
As long as I get sleep, I'll be fine. I'm trying to get to bed earlier now - such as between 9:30 and 10:30, as opposed to 10:30-11:30. Read somewhere that staying up late - was a kind of revenge procrastination - that people stay up too late in response to their fury that they don't have enough free time in their day. But it backfires - and just makes them groggy, irritable and unable to be productive and enjoy the work day.

Frustrated with the FreeStyle Libre 2 glucose scanner. Last night's was defective. Tonight's was. I ended up using the last in the pack. I sent in a form for last night's scanner - because it actually did attach to my arm. Tonight's (the first of two - I can't figure out how to get a new one - since it never attached to my arm) - that may be a loss.
They are $39.95 each (with insurance).
I've decided to go back to Freestyle Libre 3 - it's a better product, even if it leaves a bit of a sore behind.

I'm planning on doing laundry on Friday morning. Get up early, do it. Then have the rest of the day to fiddle about - maybe cleaning out stuff, watching television, writing...am in a bit of a painting slump.

Almost through VOX Machina - the second season is much better than the first season - I've watched it in reverse order. You can do that, it works. I do not however have the patience to listen to the D&D sessions for more content. I can't do podcast or watch D&D - I need visuals or I get confused. Audio books - work better if nonfiction for me. Anything with a plot or action or multiple voices may confuse me.

Halfway through "Blood Sweat and Chrome - the Making of Mad Max Fury Road".
Did you know the guy who plays the villain in the movie, also played the villain in the first film Mad Max? Toe Cutter. Hugh Keayes-Byrn - who died in 2020, was among the best actors that George Miller had ever worked with. He learned about acting watching him. And when he thought of Immortan Joe, he thought of this actor - who was perfect.
Also, apparently Charlize Theron had issues with dust, Miller suggest maybe using tissues or finding a way to help her - but she refused, she decided she was going to use it - and rolled around in it instead. The scene where she discovers the place she was hunting - doesn't exist, and in fury - goes out into the desert and screams? That bit was Theron's idea. She pitched it.
The set allowed for a certain amount of improv and actor input. The best films allow for that level of collaboration. The flawed or worst ones, don't. Or so I've discovered over time. Movies are collaborations.

Date: 2023-08-04 07:10 pm (UTC)I've got a lot of time for Charlize Theron; she's an incredible actor who hardly seems to play the same kind of character twice. Fury Road and Atomic Blonde are my favourite roles of hers, though I'm not close to seeing everything she's been in.
