1. Finished watching the series finale of Downton Abbey which aired last night. And it was quite charming, enjoyed it a great deal. Everyone's stories were wrapped up in a satisfying and thoughtful manner.

Actually, the final season has been amongst the best of the series to date, rivals the first in some respects, albeit doesn't quite have the same level of humor. What worked with Downton Abbey is it had one writer throughout. Not a team of writers, so the writing overall was more consistent, along with the tone. Also not quite that many episodes per season, which I think also adds to the quality.

Rather liked how they wrapped up both Lady Edith and Mr. Barrows stories, along with Mrs. Crowley, which for me was a definite highlight of the season. Less time was spent on the Bates, which also added to this season's charm, and far more time was spent on Lady Edith, Mr. Branson, Carson and others.

2. Once Upon a Time - has journeyed to Hades realm aka the Hell by way of Greek Mythology. (Okay is it just me or are there suddenly a lot devils on television of late? We have Damien on A&E, Lucifer on Fox, and now Hades with Once Upon a Time. I'm wondering if this is a reaction to our current political climate and He Who Shall Not Be Named running for President.)

Interesting that they've decided to go with Greek Mythology, although not surprising considering it's a) safer territory than Christian mythology, and b)it's in the public domain and Disney already did a animated film based on it -- and OUAT seems intent on subverting every Disney animated film created.
I think they even got the guy who voiced Hades in the animated version to play him here.

Greek mythology's take on the underworld is admittedly far more interesting than Christianity's take and a bit more imaginative. We have the three-headed hound of hell, the boat, the guides, etc.
Plus less gory and torturous.

Why are they in hell? spoilers )
