May. 29th, 2016 08:58 pm1. This seems to be the weekend for movies...I just rented and watched via On Demand, Mockingjay Part 2. It was fairly cheap, just $4.48, much less than the movie theater.
Super is having a noisy party in the courtyard in the middle of the buildings. Why, I've no clue. That is one ugly courtyard. Can't understand a word they are saying, it's all in Russian. I feel like I've moved to Russia and no one told me. By way of Bangeldash.
Anyhow, the movie was good, followed the book fairly closely but wasn't quite as chilling as the book or moving. Not sure why. Maybe because it was split into two parts, and it's been a year and a half since I saw the first part? While when I read the books, I binge read the entire series in the space of two weeks? Or the ending was different, the ending in the book felt more open-ending and less happy, somehow.
I also wasn't that happy with the casting of Peeta and Gail...neither of whom really seemed to have that much chemistry with Lawrence. Everyone else, I thought was excellent. Michelle Forbes had a tiny role though.
2. Engaged in a pointless political debate with people on a Friend's Facebook page. I don't why. These people were arguing that Trump is a better choice than Hillary. And less fascist than Hillary.
Also Russia was the big threat for War. (I think some of them are stuck in the 1980s. Korea is the threat, not Russia. Russia is broke, I know I live amongst Russians. They can't frigging afford to go to war.) Yes, they sound crazy to me too. They also argued the veracity of you tube videos and videos online as reliable sources, over factcheck.org or politicofactcheck.org, because gasp the other two are founded by non-profit organizations that are liberal. One of which happens to be The Tampa Bay Times, whose investigative journalists set up Politico Fact Check to fact check various politicians during campaigns. It's won a Pulitzer. How you know that you being irrational? When you argue that a video seen online is proof over a fact-checking site set up by investigative journalists.
Pointless? Because honestly, arguing politics with people is akin to arguing religion...you can't win.
Not if their emotions are involved. It's actually similar to having a debate about the morality of fictional characters with hardline shippers. People become crazy stubborn when it comes to religion and politics and well fandom shipper wars.
I've decided to back away slowly. I don't know the people involved, why am I wasting my time? Masochism?
3. I'm feeling much better, obviously, see #2. I wouldn't engage in #2, if I was still under the effects of the allergy from hell.
Nettle tea works quite well. Either that or staying inside with air conditioning blasting merrily away. Drugs also help.
