Jul. 29th, 2019 06:50 pm1. The national news has become a constant irritant. I can't watch it, I can barely read it. I can't talk about it. There's no good news that I can see. It's frigging depressing, when it's not enraging.

4. I'm reading two interesting books at the moment.
* The Mighty Thor: Thunder in Her Viens (Thor 2015- 2018) -- which is by Jason Aaron, and is a graphic novel. It's about Jane Foster picking up the mantel of Thor, while battling breast cancer. ( Read more... )
I'm enthralled. This one is free via comixcology, the other volumes may not be. (They like to sucker you in, the bastards.)
* We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix which as previously reported, I scored for $1.99 via the Kindle Daily Deal.
(I get my book recommendations from DW (in this case Smart Bitches) and Good Reads, like everyone else.)
This is about a heavy metal band that broke up badly, and one of the lead guitarists, Kris, who bottomed out...is trying to bring the band back together again to seek vengeance against her ex-partner who stole her music, her songs, her hard work to make it big.

5. Remember when I was whinging about how many frigging streaming channels we have in the US? Well...they've added more.
To date...we have:

And some of them have over 1000 television shows. Help. I'm drowning in content.
6. It's hot here, but it will be short-lived. (Also hot depending on your point of view. 90 degrees isn't that bad. There places around the world that are in the 100s.) The news stated this morning that they can't call something a heat wave when it's not really more than two days, we'll get thunderstorms on Wed, and a cooling trend -- dip into the lower 80s. (Now if I were in Martha's Vineyard and this was the weather report, they'd be whining about it being a heat wave. LOL! Wimps.)
