Trying not to focus too much on the virus. [Easier said than done. I deal with stuf by becoming as informed as possible and then venting about it and informing everyone else. Annoying, I know, but there it is.] There's not a lot I can do about it. [I wish I could go around and pick up supplies for folks but don't own a car and I'm immune compromised.] Except isolate myself as much as possible. Try to reach out to people electronically, and do my job from home the best I can.

2. I keep getting emails from various places I've bought from in the past two years and who as a result have my email address. To date:

3. The meetup groups are getting creative as well as my church. Everything is going online. Read more... )

4. I did find things to watch on television, after a lot of skipping about. Also, apparently, a lot of the television shows that I was watching and taping on the old DVR had their final "filmed or taped" episode this week. Grey's Anatomy, 9-1-1 Lonestar, Station 19, A Million Little Things and Stumptown. And some of them ended on cliff-hangers.

I've mixed feelings about Stumptown. Am kind of done with Grey's and Station 19. On the fence about 9-1-1 Lonestar, and weirdly comforted by A Million Little Things.

Rented Charlies Angels - the Elizabeth Banks version, with Kristen Stewart and Patrick Stewart. It was actually more entertaining than the previous versions, and feminist. I needed a feminist film this week badly. Elizabeth Banks sounds and acts a lot like Parker Posey. I get the two confused. They sound almost the same.

3. Watched the end of "The Greatest Showman" and decided to record the second playing of it - on F/X. I love that movie. It makes me happy. And it's fluffy and uplifting, with fun songs. It made me very happy. I'm going to see if I can find Singing in the Rain on streaming. I have it on DVD - but alas, I can't figure out how to hook up the DVD player to the new tv. I know I have something that will work but can't find it.]

Right now, I'm watching fun stuff as much as possible. Fun and comforting. If it gives me anxiety or annoys me - I turn it off.

If you have fun, fluffy, non-adrenaline or non-stressful shows to recommend - have at it. Also the less realistic or more fantastical the better - such as historicals, romances, musicals, comedies, animated films, relationship soap operas - that sort of thing. Or fun action movies - with lots of cartoon violence and the good guys win.

4. I never thought I'd say this but 1) New York City is officially closed for the duration. And 2) thank god for the Governor of New York - who decided to lock down NYC to save lives and flatten the curve. Read more... )
