Day 242 of the Corona Virus Diaries...

The day kind of got away from me or slipped through my fingers. The weekdays take forever, while the weekends slip away.

I also slept later, which most likely helped. And it's getting dark around 4:45pm so that helps as well.

Beautiful day. Crystal blue sky. No clouds. Cool. But not cold. In the fifties...jacket and jeans weather. So, of course I went for a two hour walk around Greenwood Cemetery.



As you can see - fall has come late to the cemetery. It's really not been until this week that the trees have really begun to lose their leaves.

Taking a break from the constant stream of news. Watched another episode of Great British Bake Off S8 during breakfast, and finished watching Grey's Anatomy which was advertised as jaw-dropping, but I was underwhelmed. I think I may give up on it soon. I've grown weary of the characters - and my favs have for the most part left the premises. AND, I find it jarring watching television series that incorporate the pandemic. I keep wanting to yell at people for not wearing masks in certain situations or points. It's weirdly uncomfortable. I prefer shows that ignore the pandemic entirely and take place in a world in which it is not happening. I need the escape. So I've started watching the Canadian series Virgin River - which takes place in Northern California - but I think may actually be filmed in Canada.

How to Crack Black Walnuts and Make Black Walnut Ice Cream and Dye.

It made me want to buy an ice cream maker. I need an ice cream maker like I need a hole in the head - I've no room for it, or the ice cream for that matter. Nor do I need the sugar and extra weight. I'm supposed to be eating less. Still it looked appealing.

I'm trying to catch up with my flist. I have a couple of things/people that post a lot of posts each day, which makes it difficult to keep up with everyone else. (I know POT - KETTLE, and I'm not complaining just explaining.)

Not much there. I think most people have taken an extended vacation from the internet.

Can't say I blame them. I've just found places that don't talk about stuff that I'd prefer not to look at - at the moment.




Reviewed my EW mag today. It previewed a few up and coming items, such as WandaVision coming to Disney + - this is Marvel's take on situation comedies or it's homage to them via the Scarlet Witch's reality bending powers.

Also mention a host of other items...which I can't remember. There are a few musicals coming soon. One's already on Netflix - Jingle Jangle, and coming are The Prom, with James Gordon, Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, and Ma Ramsey's Bottom with Chadwick Bosman. I remember musicals - they make me happy.

Here have another photo. I've taken over 100 photos of the cemetery this year it seems. If anyone asks me how I handled the Great Pandemic of 2020 - I'll tell them: "I walked the length and breadth of a 549 acre Cemetery, and watched as the seasons slowly progressed around me...while death lurked in the shadows - blissfully scattered by the rays of the sun."

The Lymond Chronicles by Dorothy Dunnett

The "Lymond Chronicles" is a series of six novels exploring the intricacies of 16th-century history through the exploits of the soldier Francis Crawford of Lymond.

Think the Three Musketeers but by a Modern 20th Century British Female Writer, with a classical Scottish Hero from the 16th Century.

I loved it. My friend Alice Chiu, who I met through the Buffy fandom, talked me into reading them. She also talked me into watching Farscape. I adored both. We lost contact over the years - life took us in different directions, and it became impossible to stay in touch. This is true of life, unfortunately. People on the ATPOBTVS board where I met her, knew her as pumpkinpuss or the travel agent that arranged the NY Meetup.

Through these books I met other Buffy fans. There was a list serve entitled Sunnydale U that was for Dunnett fans of Buffy - it was a scholarly group of academics, over the age of 35, who discussed the series.

It's a series that is begging for a television adaptation but has yet to receive one. I think Dunnett envisioned a young Peter O'Toole in the title role - from Lawrence of Arabia. A lot of Buffy fans wanted James Marsters to play it. Personally I think Tom Hiddleston would have been perfect or the guy who played Jamie Lannister. But that's just me.

This is Day #13 of the 60 Days of Gratitude Challenge.

The prompt is Season of the year that you are most grateful for.

Easy, Spring.

I'm not sure I need to explain why.

It's a season of renewal, rebirth, and second chances. Of re-awakenings. And beginnings. I feel I can start again in the Spring. Plus mild temperatures, usually 50s,60s, and 70s. Or 60-s and 70-s.

Longer days. More sunlight. And we're over the hump of the stressful fall and winter holiday period.
