Basically stuff I don't want to put in my lockdown updates.

1. It's Well Past Time to Rethink Auteur Theory and the Way Actresses Are Treated

Goes into some depth about Stanely Kubrick's treatment of Shelly Duvall, who gives rare interviews now. Content warning )

Also discusses how Hitchcock tormented Tippi Hedren on the Birds, traumatizing her to get a performance. Hitchcock was a sexual predator, and manipulated and tortured his actresses.

2. ABC Daytime Back on Broadway
Basically Daytime Soap Actors doing Theater performances.

3. Zack Snyder Director's Cut of Justice League will Debut on March 18 on HBO Max

Okay, for everyone who doesn't know the story by now? Zack Snyder was the showrunner for DC's Superhero film franchise, taking over from Chris Nolan, with Nolan's brother writing or co-writing the scripts. Snyder, as far as I know, was a professional and people liked working with him. No problems were sited. Anyhow - he is known for his visual style - his films basically look like paintings. And the Russos borrowed heavily from his slow motion painting style action sequences for their Marvel films.

Anyhow, he directed Justice League, but had to leave before post-production was completed - when his daughter committed suicide.

On March 12, 2017, the suicide of his daughter Autumn prompted Snyder to withdraw from post-production work on Justice League in May 2017 to be with his family, which resulted in Warner Bros and Joss Whedon completing the film.

Following his daughter's suicide, Snyder began a philanthropy career directed towards suicide prevention and awareness. Snyder promoted this effort on social media by selling shirts and merchandise related to the Snyder Cut and, in December 2020, announced that this effort had raised more than $500,000 in charitable donations.

Here's the trailer for The Snyder Cut of Justice League.

Snyder's film style vs. Whedon's film style )

I am admittedly curious - because it may fill in some of the gaps. Warner apparently has no interest in continuing it with Snyder. But the guy who is running Warner right now - may well be on his way out? We'll see what AT&T does.

4. WandaVision

This series is getting more interesting as we go.spoilers )

I enjoyed it.

5. Buffy Panel 2011 Panel - this is the panel where they make a few interesting off-hand comments about the work environment that is disturbing. Among topics casually thrown out? DB wandering about naked on the set of Angel. The long work hours on Buffy because they had the budget.

Most of the time they don't - but every once and a while, they let something slip. And I'd go, WTF? Oh god. Did they just say that? Dear god. I'm glad I'm not an actor and don't do that for a living. Frigging hell.

Most of these people have become close friends at the conventions.
