Oct. 3rd, 2022 09:48 pmWork continues to crush my ass. I've gradually come to the painful conclusion that I'm not getting a four day holiday. And will have to take that vacation day at another time. I'll wait until Wed or Thursday to reschedule it for later in the month, because you never know.
I can't seem to get anyone to send me what I need in a timely manner, and in the format that is required.
I was also thwarted in my attempt to schedule a retreat for myself and Wales at Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY. It might have been too pricey in any event. But it is booked solid through October.
So, needless to say, I was in a pissy mood today, not helped by the ice cold rain, wind, and generally crappy conditions. I wore too light a jacket to work today - and too light a sweater, apparently, because I was cold all day long.
Oh well, at least the heat came on in my apartment - plus hot shower, so I'm warm now.
Comforted myself with the shower and for dinner, chickpea pasta with meat balls and Rao Tomato Sauce, with plenty of parmesene cheese.
Also talked to mother, who is grieving my father, poor thing. We all are.
While at the same time - we're all relieved he's gone - because watching someone die from Alzheimers is beyond painful. She talked to bro - who is busy building porch chairs. He sent her a picture of them. She suggested buying them - but he scoffed at that - they apparently cost over $200 each, and he figured he might as well just build his own. To say my brother is "handy" is an understatement. The boy re-wired his own kitchen. Although, I apparently gave him too much credit on the hot tub.
Me: He electrically wired his hot tub.
Sis in law: He plugged it in, that's it.
Me: He put the plumbing together -
Sis in law: Okay, that's true, I'll give him that.
Mother: You notice I didn't ask you to pot any of my plants or plant them -
Me: That's because I'd kill them. I take after my father in this respect. My brother is good with plants. I kill plants. Although I did consider getting house plants -
Mother: Didn't you already try that with the aerogarden?
Me: Yeah, that did not work out well. I have no idea how to prune.
Mother: I think you are supposed to repot or replace them eventually.
Me: No patience for that.
They put a plant on the cabinet next to my cubicle at work. I don't know what they were thinking. Apparently they don't like that plant very much. Because it won't live.
Apparently my sister-in-law also kills plants. So I'm not alone in this regard.
I am not handy. Resourceful yes. Handy no. I can't nail, hammer, plant, grow, garden, construct, or build much of anything. I can however hire other people to do it. That, I can do. See, I'm like my father in that regard.
I need to find someone who is handy - and hook up with them. It has yet to happen. But hope springs eternal.
