Jan. 16th, 2023 08:13 pmMaking my way through six seasons of Peaky Blinders on Netflix. (It's a joint BBC/Netflix production, and of the same quality as most of the BBC's costume dramas. No one does a better period piece on television than the BBC, in my opinion.)
Anyhow, violence level? About the same as The Godfather films. It's a gangster series, with a heavy emphasis on relationships and characterization. Well written for the most part, good dialogue, and good performances, and stock full of British character actors that I've seen elsewhere.
We have Aiden Brody, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, the guy who played on both The Wire and Game of Thrones (Little Finger), the actress who plays Miss Scarlet, Helen McCory, Sam Neil...
With a soundtrack by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, among others.
It's a British Gangster drama that takes place between 1920-1929 in Birmingham, England. Focuses on an Irish/Romany gangster family who gets their name "Peaky Blinders" from the Razor Blades they place in the brims of their caps.
It's among the better gangster dramas that I've seen. It's also nice to have gangsters that aren't Italian.

Didn't do much today. Got up way too early to do laundry - to beat the crowd. Wasn't necessary - no one was in there. I was doing laundry up until 7:45, and didn't see a soul. Also made the bed up clean.
Then took a shower, and made breakfast.
Tried and failed to draw a flower today. Just not in the mood to do art at the moment. And you kind of have to be in the mood to do both. Thinking work has killed my creative inclination or I'm far too rusty.
Did shave off about five more pages of the novel. So progress?
May go to bed early tonight. On account of not sleeping in this morning.
