Still staggered by being horribly gaslit at work last week, I've been struggling to distract myself on a cold, dismal rainy weekend. Mix of snow and rain. Winter storm, my foot. More like a half-assed attempt by it.

I binged Blue Eyed Samuri S1 yesterday and it is among the best "adult" animated series that I've seen to date.

I want to emphasize that it is adult, and rated TV-MA (mature audiences only). There is graphic sex, nudity, and violence in this series. It is definitely for age 17 and above. While sexual violence is implied (it is not shown). The series is "feminist" and written/produced by women. But I did not find it preachy, it leans heavily into show not tell.

I was blown away by it, and want more. Good news? Netflix renewed for a second season, it was among the last of the renewals of 2023.

It's probably best to go in blind.

1. What’s the Coolest Thing You’ve Ever Seen in Nature?

That's hard. Too many things to pick from. Nature is kind of awesome?

But this is a cool thing that I love...

2. Could You Stop Shopping for an Entire Year?

Food shopping? No. I have to eat.

Everything else? Yes.

Eh, no. See comments, they make valid points. I had to get toilet paper tonight. This isn't possible.

3. What National or International Events That You Lived Through Do You Remember Best?

Uh, define "best"? Do you mean "remember the most"? Or that were positive?

Remember the most?

* March 2020 - when the pandemic officially hit New York City, and it became the epicenter, and the entire city went into quarantine and the rest of the US followed, along with the world.

* September 11, 2001 - a day that will live in infamy.

* January 6, 2021 - the day of the insurrection

4. Are Your Eating Habits Healthy?

For the most part. I eat mainly greens, poultry, fish, nuts, seeds, eggs, yogurt, and items made from nuts/cheese and vegetables. Lots of broccoli, green beans, avocados. Occasionally falfal (chick peas).

Do however have a sweet tooth and love chocolate - so I eat a lot of chocolate (mainly dark chocolate) or Chocolate (gluten free) and organic, with gluten free pretzels. I also have ice cream (mainly Breyers natural or occasional gourmet pints (small). And cookies/brownies. But not many at all.

I'm carb free due to diabetes and gluten intolerance.

Drinks? Rarely have anything but tea, water, and sparkling water/tea. Occasional wine, cocktail, and CBD drink or kombuchi. But again don't do sweet or diet, and never sodas.

5. How Do You Fight the Winter Blues?

Right now with snowflake lights, lights on a tiny Christmas Tree. And meditation.

6. Does Technology Make Us More Alone?

Yes, and no. Social media can isolate and help connect. Sometimes at the same time - or so I discovered. It's a lot like letter writing - you send a letter out, some people respond, some don't, and sometimes no one does at all. The trick? Is not to take it personally, but that's always hard. People aren't easy to get along with or connect to - no matter what they may think or so I've discovered.

7. What Are the Most Important Changes, in Your Life and in the World, in the Last Decade?

* the Pandemic pretty much changed the world, my life, and everyone's. I don't think there is a single soul whose life wasn't changed by it.

- so I now get 2 vaccines every year (Flu and COVID), have a collection of every type of mask on the planet (or so it seems), hand sanitizers, and testing kits. And often find myself taking a COVID test even if it's just the sniffles.

* Elections give me anxiety now. That may never change. And I no longer trust people in positions of power regardless of party allegiance or role.

* My niece has grown up and moved across the country.

* My father died and I miss him all the time. This weekend in particular.

8. How Do You Greet Your Friends and Family?

What does this mean? I hug some of them, depends on the relationship? And the person?

9. Would You Want to Be a Space Tourist?

Probably not. I know the science, and no. It's in a confined space. You have to wear a suite. There's gravity issues and potential space sickness. It's kind of akin to scuba diving - and I can't do that without getting really ill - since I have issues with vertigo.

10. Do You Trust Your Government?

No. I work for a government agency - and no, I don't trust elected officials or anyone appointed by them. Our government is unfortunately corrupt. The only way to fix it is to put a cap on campaign donations, all donations, of $100. And to prohibit anyone who has more than a million dollars, and is the head of a corporation or in marketing/promotion from running.

However, I also know government is highly bureaucratic and run by self absorbed nitwits, so there's that.

11. How Much Do You Think About Your Weight

Very little. I don't tend to think about it much at all. Never really have.
I don't own a scale.
