* What is the weather like in your area?
Frigging cold all of a sudden. It's 21 degrees F in Brooklyn, feels like 9 degrees with wind chill. Still better than most of the rest of the country, plus I have heat and water. And a heavy winter coat. Plus warm clothes, socks, and blankets.
I remember warming up my car (yes I once owned a car - let's move on) in Kansas when it was 20 or 30 degrees below 0 with wind chill. I honestly don't know if it was actually 20 or 30 degrees below, the weather people liked to exaggerate - and honestly? I stop paying attention when they say it's below 0. Anything below 20 degrees is frigging cold in my opinion. Actually anything below 30 degrees is cold. When you say it's below 0 - I'm staying inside, thank you very much, and not venturing outside for very long. I'd prefer not to freeze the tip of my nose off.
Anyhow, this was in the 1990s, and back then we ran the car when it was frigid outside to prevent the battery from freezing or the fuel line. (I don't know if folks still do this or if it was a myth.) I'd sit out there, warm it up, in the sunshine, with the heat on, and write letters to people in multi-colored ink. Usually philosophizing about the world in the 1990s, while I was sitting inside a car running the battery.
* Have you seen anything recently that you highly recommend and are fannish about?
Blue Eyed Samurai. I fell in love with it for some reason and want more. I'm annoyed it's just one season so far, and am impatient for S2.
* Have you tried to watch something that everyone else loved and you just didn't understand the appeal?
White Lotus and Succession. The appeal of those two series is lost on me.
* National Dress up your Pet Day - do you have any pets? If you used to, did you ever dress them up?
No. And no, I'd not dress up a pet. Why would you do that to your pet? It seems cruel to me. It's a pet, a living thing, with feelings, and concerns, and usually fur, not a doll. I get dressing up your little brother or sister, but a pet? Don't you like the pet? Do you want your pet to hate you and silently plan your demise? Because that's totally happening if you insist on dressing it up.
* National Hat Day - do you like to wear hats? What does your favourite hat look like?
No. Hats tend to give me a headache. I've a big head. I do have a knit hat that I love though and enjoy wearing in winter and is very warm.
* It's Fig Newton (or Fig Roll) Day! Are you a fan?
No. I've never liked them. Which is good because I can't eat them. Gluten intolerant. This may explain the dislike? Although I like other cookies, which I can't eat either...although you can make gluten free chocolate chip cookies but not Fig Newton's easily.
So again, it's a good thing I don't like them that much.

As an aside, I was reading X-men 30 (note this is X-men 30 2019-onwards, not from 1960-onwards) tonight. For a bit, I thought they were going to address the rescue of my favorite character - but alas no.
X-men: We have to save humanity before we unleash war on the bad guys.
Me: I don't care about humanity, you silly comic book. I know they are doomed. Just rescue my favorite character already.
X-men goes off on some absurd adventure to get some absurd gadget from the High Evolutionary.
ME: And we're going to save my favorite character from execution - when exactly?
X-men gets gadget from High Evolutionary, but Laura gets vaporized, after Synch pulls her mind into his.
Me: See, if you'd gone to rescue my favorite character - this would not have happened.
Ugh. I'm afraid they are going to kill off my fav, only to reboot him again or something. I don't want to wait for him to be rebooted - I want him saved, and evolved, and in an interesting arc.
And..I started reading Cat Sebastian's "We Could be So Good" on my phone because I forgot to bring the Kindle with "Paladin's Grace" on it. I left it in the other bag. Took me forever to get into the Kindle on my phone.
I'm procrastinating buying a new phone. I figure it's fine. It has a crack in the screen and keeps telling me it needs more storage space from time to time, and it can't get the latest software upgrade - IOS 17.5, I'm on 16.6.
But I don't care.
