December Memage:
December
1. Are you good at wrapping presents?
No, I take after my father in this regard. Also as with anything involving manual dexterity and neatness, I suck at it. I don't even try anymore. I either grab a decorated bag and put it in that, or I order from a place like Amazon that gift wraps it for me.
2. Is there anything you don’t like but can’t bear to part with in your house?
Not really. I rent, so I don't keep things I don't like - no room.
3. In 1961 Dutchman Anton Geesink became the first non-Japanese judo world champion. Have you ever studied any martial arts?
No. The closest I've come to it is Tai Chi (which isn't one) and maybe kick-boxing, which I suck at.
4. The first Burger King opened in Miami, Florida, USA (1954). Which do you prefer Burger King or McDonald’s (or neither)?
Neither. Wendys. And I won't eat at either now. Although when I was a kid? I preferred McDonalds, better fries and better shakes. But that was in the 1980s, so...and McDonalds just happened to be on the way home from my Junior High School - so I'd stop and grab a strawberry milkshake on the way home, and sometimes fries.
5. What’s the weather like today where you live? Is it around the average for the time of year?
It's been freezing (quite literally) for the past week mainly due to the wind chill (which also played havoc with my cable and internet this weekend and lead to cooler temps in the apartment), but is now, well above, in the 40s approaching the fifties, without much wind (so in the 70s in my apartment, as opposed to the sixities). I'd say around average, except it's been warmer than usual as evidenced by the trees that sill have their leaves outside my window, on of which is still green and doesn't appear to feel the need to let them drop any time soon.
6. Is there anyone amongst your friends or family who is difficult to buy a present for? How do you get around that?
My mother. I've not a clue what to get her. My brother sends me a list, and I send him one. But my mother is stubborn. Yes, we do lists.
7. If you listen to music often do you prefer vinyl, CDs, the radio or streaming?
Streaming via Apple Music on my phone, also smartwatch. No talk. Whatever music I want. Kind of like my own portable radio station. Also easier to use than Spotify, which I gave up on. I was never a fan of vinyl - I couldn't get the needle on the right track and always scratched records and lived in fear of it. CDs - tended to scratch after a while, and you can't just listen to one track as easily. Radio - too much talk not enough music, and the music isn't eclectic enough for my taste? I have insanely eclectic taste.
