Jan. 28th, 2024 10:16 pm1. Found on FB...and hee hee hee...

(All of my book shelves are unorganized. I am physically incapable of keeping an organized bookshelf or file cabinet. I try. It lasts maybe a month? Then it's gone. It's not how I think. I do not think in a linear fashion and you kind of have to - to organize things on bookshelves.)
2. Are you a fan of chocolate cake? Have you ever made one?
Yes. Not recently. Did make a gluten free one several years back, also had a gluten free one. (I've had the non-gluten variety as well...prior to knowing I was gluten intolerant.)
3. Lego has been around since 1932, have you ever made things with Lego?
Not really. We kind of did? But we weren't really into legos. Or if we did I don't remember it. (And I don't have children).

Date: 2024-01-29 04:03 pm (UTC)My favorite has to be German Black Forest cake (or, as my mother called it, Schwarzwalder kirschtorte); chocolate cake with cherry and whipped cream filling. Tragically, I seem to have developed a digestive intolerance to cherries. So...no more yummy cake for me.
3. My house is filled with Legos. My son has mostly outgrown them... but they're still here. And everywhere. (Do you think I could donate about 2 tons of Legos to local schools?)

Date: 2024-01-30 01:14 am (UTC)I can't eat it. I can't even have the gluten-free version of it - send my blood sugar sky-rocketing.
That thing is about 71-100 carbs.
Painful getting older.

Date: 2024-01-30 01:27 am (UTC)I don't know how I developed this condition so late in life. It's possible I have the beginning of an ulcer somewhere. (But hey--what have I got to be stressed about?)

Date: 2024-01-30 02:20 am (UTC)Except salicylates is also in asprin. I'm thinking maybe you are taking asprin, and can't handle cherries on top of it? (shrugs)
Food sensitivities are odd. I think you are allergic to cherries?
Ulcer's aren't due to stress by the way - I got a lecture on this a while back by someone, I can't remember who it was, explaining to me in minute and condescending detail how stress has nothing to do with ulcers. I'll see if I can find it...
Ah, did.
"Stomach ulcers are usually caused by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These can break down the stomach's defence against the acid it produces to digest food. The stomach lining then becomes damaged causing an ulcer to form."
https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/stomach-liver-and-gastrointestinal-tract/stomach-ulcer/
"This is usually caused by:
an infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria
taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen or aspirin – particularly if they’re taken for a long time or at high doses
There’s little evidence that stress or certain foods causes stomach ulcers."
Basically, stay away from NSAIDS. But cherries shouldn't bother it.
You may have an allergy to cherries?

I think I've seen it before though...just can't remember where.
