Mar. 14th, 2024 06:42 pmAm Sick.
Been diagnosed with a sinus infection and got antibiotics for it. Discovered this during a virtual tele-health visit today with the nurse practioner (who I liked a lot). NYU Langone is good about getting back to me on these things. I'll give them that. Technology has in some respects made health care more accessible to folks like myself who can't easily get to and from doctor's appointments. I sent a message to them via the portal with my symptoms and the meds that I was taking - asking if I was doing the right thing? They immediately called me - and asked if they could set up a virtual tele-health call with a nurse practioner in about thirty minutes. I agreed. And picked up the antibiotics at 12:20 pm. The Telehealth call was at 11:00 Am.
The sinus infection explain the sinus headaches from hell. Turns out the ENT was right in thinking I probably had a sinus infection. Also explains the brain fog. And post nasal drip.
After two days of laryngitis caused by nasty post-nasal drip, spent all last night coughing. Then got the chills. Watery eyes. Runny nose. Headache. Congested in chest and head. Dizzy. So called in sick around 4 am, since I normally get up for work around 5:45 am. Turned off alarm and slept in. Tried to use CPAP Machine humidifier unit to help me sleep - it didn't quite work, and I can't quite decide whether it made things better or worse.
Evil minority vendor decided to call my cell phone at 9 am, waking me up. I blocked his call. He's no longer a vendor, and it's no longer my project. If he has issues - he should be talking to someone else not me.
So off work today and tomorrow. Hopefully will be able to go back in on Monday. NYU Langone gave me a note, just in case its needed. (I have FMLA in place for this - so it's not.) Told crazy work place, and BB & BYT along with Babs that I had a sinus infection and would be out until Monday.

Super came and fixed the broken bathroom door (which was slowly coming unhinged) and the replaced the broken toilet seat with the new one that I'd purchased. (I've a cushioned toilet seat). It's only thirty dollars via Amazon. You can literally purchase anything online nowadays. I refuse to get my meds online - doesn't feel safe. I like to see the pharmacists providing them.
Been playing with my new Ninja Creamer - which is basically an ice cream machine for folks who have dietary restrictions. It can turn most anything into ice cream, sorbet, gelato, lite ice cream, or does milk shakes, and other frozen deserts. I've made a mango, pineapple, orange sorbet so far, along with frozen pumpkin yogurt, and a blueberry smoothie. Now I've a coffee double chocolate yogurt mixture in the freezer. (It's coconut chocolate pudding, coffee mocha yogurt with chocolate pieces, coffee, chocolate powder, half n half. The sweetner is in the chocolate pudding and coffee moco yogurt - so it's fairly low in sugar content.) Been using it to make low fat, low sodium, and low sugar ice creams.

Tried to watch two movies today, gave up.
* Polite Society - I got bored, I think I'm the wrong audience?
* Breakfast on Pluto - it's not working for me for some reason or other?
But, I discovered that because of Oppenheimer and Cillian Murphy's popularity, Amazon Prime now has a ton of Cillian Murphy films on it that weren't previously available. Thank you, Oscars. (I wanted him to win for that reason alone.)
May go back to Red Eye, but I'm thinking of rewatching Inception.
Anyone have television rec's? Should I start watching Shogun? There's so many television shows - I can't choose between them - I find myself mindless scrolling.
I may rent Anatomy of a Murder - since I am curious about it. But not sure I can focus on it.

Goal this weekend is to submit art application to Brooklyn Museum of Art.
I really need to do that soon. It's probably going to be the watercolor of the couple on the subway. Although am tempted to send Pandemic Sunflower.
I've two groups of art - that I'd like to show, my photography, and my paintings.
Also need to donate money to the kickstarter campaign to set up a gallery in Brooklyn to exhibit art. I'm attempting slowly to pursue my artistic desires despite all the obstacles the world keeps throwing in my path.
