Against all odds, I managed to actually view the eclipse.

So much for that photography career I'd planned.

FM had an extra-pair of glasses. So, I helped her see it in the conference room - then bored of contorting ourselves, we decided to go downstairs and watch it from the sidewalk outside of our building, with a gaggle of tourists, bus passengers, homeless people, and co-workers.

We didn't see the total eclipse from NYC, just about 97% of one. So it went down to a partial sliver on one side. Got cold, but not dark. Not really. And it was overcast at various points, so every once and a while the sun would appear to disappear, but it actually hadn't.

Around 3:30pm, even though you could still see it - we got bored and went inside.

....and the cosmic dance continues

Pretty much the same experience on my end. One of our staffers had a spare pair of glasses, and we all took turns viewing the eclipse. Sky was mostly clear in my section of Brooklyn, and I got a nice view of the moon covering about half the sun's disk.

No virgins were sacrificed to bring the sun back, so I got bored and went back inside.

97% is still pretty cool!

That makes sense. I think I was like 85 or 90% in 2017 but still enjoyed the 70ish% I had this time.

Yea, but I think it's a partial eclipse. I found myself looking up a bunch of eclipse stuff last night and there's a total lunar eclipse coming up so that should be cool.
