Sweaty day. The sky felt as it it were dripping with warm prespiration. Making me somewhat irritable - because of the barometric pressure, which for reasons I do not completely understand always affects me physically.
Good news? According to the local weather people it is supposed to be a lovely weekend. Sunny and mild - low eighties. 82 on Sunday. Bad news? This is the local weather people, ie. NY1 and we all know how reliable they are. Good news? They've been pretty damn reliable lately. Hope this is true since a bunch of my friends from my online correspondence club are coming into town this week. Several of which I've never met face to face, just corresponded with. [Online Correspondence Club is how I describe my livejournal flist, and the discussion board I spent a good portion of my time on in 2002-2004. It is no different than a letter correspondence club - just much faster. We exchange the equivalent of emails and posts back and forth, not unlike the letters I used to send back and forth to friends. I also discuss pretty much the same things online that I did in letters. Only difference? Wider range of correspondents.]
Oh quick question for online correspondence club/ATPO gathering groupies -
Who do I ask for when I enter the Ramada? (Have the absurd fear of getting all the way up there Friday or Sat or both, only to find no one is there or they are under a name I don't know.)

Date: 2005-06-29 04:28 pm (UTC)I know take the F train to the Seven (diamond)
then switch at??? for the circular Seven, then to???.
Somehow I doubt it is called Shea Stadium (although there is a Yankee Stadium stop on the subway, so it would only be fair.)

Date: 2005-06-29 04:39 pm (UTC)Your best bet is F to West 4th Street, E to Jackson Heights/Roosevelt Avenue, then go upstairs to the 74th street and B'way stop on the #7 line. Five local stops later, you get out on 111th street. Walk along Roosevelt Avenue to 114th street, then go left until you hit the hotel (between 37th and 38th avenues). If you don't see a gigantic baseball stadium, you've gone the wrong way.
Alternately, if you're not in the mood to do three trains, take the F all the way to JH/RA. But switching to the E at W. 4th takes 20 minutes off you ride.

Date: 2005-06-29 04:47 pm (UTC)Switching to the E may not save you 20 minutes. 10 at the most, and some of that will be spent switching and waiting for the E train. Maybe you're better off doing the F/7 combo.

Date: 2005-06-29 05:59 pm (UTC)Or do I take the F to Roosevelt and switch to the 7 there?
(Note - would rather spend more time sitting on train than waiting for the train, since I can read while sitting on it and don't mind long train rides.)
