1. Your main fandom this year?

Books: Illona Andrews novels - been reading all of them on audio or e-books or graphic audio dramatization. (I get her blog). Television: General Hospital (soap) and the X-men. Also, to a lesser degree Bridgerton, Doctor Who, and Lord of the Rings.

2. Your favorite film watched this year?

Thelma. Thelma would be my favorite, considering it's the only one I really remember. Thelma is streaming on Hulu and is about an old woman who takes out the people who scammed her - not at all what you'd think.

3. Your favorite book read this year?

Illona Andrews novels which I listened to on audible - the Innkeeper Series was lovely, and so was Sancturary, and the Kate Daniels Graphic Audio Dramatizations (which I can listen to many many times without getting bored of them), and the Edge Series. Those urban fantasy/sci-fi hybrids are excellent in world-building and characterization.

I also enjoyed Slayers on Audible.

Books that I read? I can remember the paperback that I read - Dreadful (and maybe a little bit good..) by Caitlin Rozakis - which was innovative and had a fun look to it.

PenPal by Dathan Auerbach scared the hell out of me. That was by far the scariest thing I've read this year. It took a long time to get that out of my head.

Loved the audiobook Hail Mary by Andy Weir which has the best narrator - hands down. With Anne Leckie's Ancilliary Justice - a close second.

4. Your favorite TV show of the year?

I'm moody so it keeps changing depending on the mood? And television shows aren't really comparable if you're like me, and genre jump.

Bridgerton S3 while not quite as good as S2, did deliver and surprised me. It had some hot sex scenes that were unexpected. It was of course helped by my re-watch of the previous seasons. My favorite of the series is still oddly, Queen Charlotte.

Agatha All Along...also surprised me in how it revolved around a Ballad. And how the ballad becomes a bit of a satirical joke. Clever series. And among the better satires that I've seen.

Doctor Who - I adore the new Who. Nguti is a breath of fresh air, as is the welcome and overdue return of dynamic writing duo Moffat and Davies, who are so much better together than apart.

Arcane and Scaveigner's Reign - the two best animated series that I've seen, both sci-fi.

The Diplomat - for the banter, and the twists/turns, the older couple romance - favorite political thriller with a touch of rom-com.

X-men '97 - had some excellent episodes - and redeemed itself from the clunky original.

True Detective: Night Country - damn, Jodie Foster was amazing in this, and it was gripping from start to finish. Part ghost story, part mystery, part sci-fi.

Slow Horses - excellent spy thriller, and still going strong.

Foundation - I think I watched this - this year? It was excellent either way.

5. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?

Graphic Audio Dramatizations. First Slayers: Buffyverse story with the voices of actors in the Buffy series. Then the Illona Andrews books. I love these.

Also the earworm song - "The Ballad of the Witches Road" and all its versions. It's an earworm, but a fun song, once you know the back story.

6. Your biggest fandom disappointment?

Deadpool and Wolverine

7. Your TV boyfriend of the year?

Doctor Who (the new Who) or possibly Rogue (as played by Jonathon Groff in Doctor Who).

8. Your TV girlfriend of the year?

Vi from Arcane

9. Your biggest squee moment of the year?

Realization that Stephen Moffat was writing Doctor Who again? Or, that X-men were coming to the MCU?

10. The most missed of your old fandoms?

I miss the Buffy fandom (foresee a re-watch soon) and the BSG fandom.

11. The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?

I have a massive watch queue and TBR book list, so this question could turn into a rabbit hole if I let it. But that isn't really the question here - it's about which material I might get fannish about and that's hard to predict. Something others are into so we have something more to talk about?

That said? I'm flirting with Outlander, going back to Star Trek (I have all of Strange New Worlds, Prodigy, and rest of Discovery).

12. Most anticipated fandom event for 2025?

Andor S2
MCU films/series on Disney + (Ironheart, Secret Wars, Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four...)
Diplomat S3

General Hospital and X-men

13. Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?

Ballad of the Witches Road

14. Your favorite online community of the year?

Facebook's General Hospital Updates and Spoilers
