shadowkatChecked the stock market just now (9:30 pm) and the Market dove. Everything is down, by about 3,000 dollars, possibly more for some.
Small wonder. The Doofus decided to impose tariffs on literally every non-US owned land mass on the planet, with the possible exception Canada (the Senate fought back on that, so it was paused) and maybe Russia, including unoccupied land masses. Well, unoccupied by humans at any rate. Yes, my friends, the Doofus actually imposed Tariffs on New Zealand and Australian Puffins and Penguins, along with those in Antarctica.
Say what you will about the Doofus, he has managed to "trump" Saturday Night Live and Monty Python, Ryan Murphy, Shonda Rhimes and basically anyone who has ever attempted political satire in the political satire department.
As a result the global stock market dove, to the surprise of no one, including the Doofus, who apparently was applauding it? His view is he will bully the world into following and kowtowing to the US. He's going to fight them economically!
I jumped on Linked-In, the smart financial folks, Bloomberg writers for the Bloomberg Economic News, and various financial and banking groups were discussing it. They wisely pointed out that the Doofus's has outsmarted himself and apparently overlooked the possibility that the rest of the world could ban together and create fair trade agreements that benefited them and not the US, leaving the US out completely, which would cause costs in the US to skyrocket.
Then of course there were the dimwitted Marketing, Software Developers, Engineering Consultants and Architects - who felt the need to remind everyone why we never consult this nitwits on financial or economic issues. They felt the need to defend the Doofus's actions, and state that we needed to get rid of bureaucracy and shake up the economy. I jumped off Linked In.
Sometimes I don't know whether to punch something, stomp my feet, bang my head against a wall, yell, scream, laugh, or cry or all of the above? I'm not sure anyone else does either.

I cancelled the tech appointment with Optimum, mainly because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. And I was afraid that on the day they came out, it would be working, and they'd charge me. They were threatening to do so, if everything worked.
Better idea - is to just cancel the cable and the landline, which barely work and go full internet. And that way - if I continue to have issues with the internet - I can easily switch to another provider.
Meanwhile it was announced by Super that the building now has to do composting. At first we all had to get our own little bins and put it in a bin in the basement, then it was changed - so that we just need to put the scraps in bags and bring them to the bin in the basement. (NYC passed a law in which everyone has to compost and do curbside composting.)

Sony has decided to do Four Beatles Bio-Pics, Directed by Sam Mendes
The cast was announced today.
"Sony‘s long-awaited Beatles movie biopic plans are finally coming together.
Director Sam Mendes took the stage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas to reveal the cast for the features and said that all four films are set for theatrical release in April 2028. The surprising plans to make four films — one for each member of the famed band — were first announced last year.
Drumroll, please: Mendes also brought the cast onstage. Set to star in the films are Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Each of the four movies will focus on one of the members of the Fab Four. "

I didn't know this was in the works? Why is it in the works? Well, I guess if they've done Elvis, Bob Dylan, and Elton John, it was the Beatles turn eventually?
But we already have multiple documentaries on the Beatles, plus various movies? Although, you could say the same thing about Elvis and Elton John?
" “We’re not just making one film about the Beatles — we’re making four,” Mendes said. “Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.”
Mendes claimed that Sony film boss Tom Rothman called the projects “the first binge-able theatrical experience.” After hitting the stage, all four actors recited lyrics from the band’s song “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and then took a Beatles-style synchronized bow.
The movie’s news closed out Sony’s presentation with a true mic-drop moment that left the auditorium stunned by the release date news and then, of course, by the surprise visits from the four stars.
“You have to match the boldness of the idea with a bold release strategy,” Rothman told The Hollywood Reporter last year about the project that earned the Oscar-winning director a coveted signoff from the group’s selective label Apple Corps. “There hasn’t been an enterprise like this before, and you can’t think about it in traditional releasing terms.”
So...he's adding four films, not just one, four to the oodles of other films on the Beatles? Honestly if you are a big fan of the Beatles, you could at some point do nothing but watch and listen to the Beatles for years. They could even have a streaming service devoted to them at some point.

Date: 2025-04-04 12:54 pm (UTC)I can see that - it has the most established star/actor in it - Barry Keoghan, and no one knows anything about Ringo. He's rarely featured in the films, relegated to supporting - or background. He's mostly in the background in the documentaries. Lennon/McCartney tend to hog the spotlight, with Harrison occasionally wrestling it from them, usually by quitting. While Ringo just hangs out and plays the drums.
My own feeling about musician biopics is that they work best when they do something a bit crazy, like that recent one of Robbie Williams where he's a talking chimp.
I tend to agree. Although haven't seen the Robbie Williams one yet. But the ones I've enjoyed have often gone a different route? Elton John's Rocketman was a "musical", and A Complete Unknown focused mainly on Dylan's relationship with the Folk Musicians, and how he kind of betrayed them. Bohemian Rhapsody was at its best when it focused on the creation of the music, and not on Freddie Mercury's descent into sex drugs AIDs and rock and roll via his homophobic band members perspective. Elvis - by Baz Luhrahm was good because it focused on the Col's manipulation of Elvis, and was also a "musical", which focused on the music and how the Col both aided and destroyed Elvis, not on Elvis's personal life, descent into sex, drugs and/or romances.
Too many of the biopics - focus on the sex, drugs and rock and roll cliche/melodrama, and after a while, it's just dull.
