I've been hibernating this weekend - nesting and watching television. It's either snowing or sleeting at the moment, per my phone sleeting. Did make brownies - probably shouldn't have made brownies (gluten-free obviously), and Skinny Popcorn. Which caused my blood sugar to sky rocket. Lovely. It does appear to have stablized and is coming down. So there's that.

Didn't sleep well at all last night. Due mainly to stomach/digestive issue, and muscle cramping. I'm thinking of taking a hot shower before bed tonight, in the hopes that it will calm down the muscles.

It got cold in my bedroom last night - around 65. So I took out the window fan and put another cover on the window A/C and put window coverings on both. Now, it's about 70 in there, and 74 degrees in the living room, so not as cold as last night - no wind. It's always the wind. This week is going to be brutal though - with record low temperatures and bad wind chills. I prefer the snow, personally, to the bitter cold.

Been side-eyeing the news via social media all weekend. Minnesota for folks who don't live in North America and Canada - is about the same distance from New York City as Spain is from London. Actually it may be further? Decided to check - per google, it is 18h 8m (1,197 mi) from NYC to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Spain is 17 hours from London. It's about a four days drive give or take? Not close by. I've never been to Minnesota, it's among the few states that I've not been to. Considering what the weather has been like this week and weekend, it's kind of amazing how many people took to the streets and protested.

Buffy S7 and Angel S4 Rewatch.

I feel a little sorry for Angel? Cordelia basically tells him she can't be with him because she lived through his years as Angelus while she was high above as a higher being, then he sees her sleeping with/having sex with his 18 year old son. (I can understand why the actress was squicked by it? The age difference between CC and VK is sizable? She's 32 and he's 18. She was pregnant. And in the story - she'd changed his diapers a month ago when he was a baby.) Both actors hated this storyline. VK hated being on Angel S4, he was bored stiff, and found acting with CC abysmal. He felt no one was invested in the show, and he barely saw the showrunner. Much preferred Mad Men, where the show-runner was more present and more involved, and people cared. (I can't re-watch Mad Men - once was enough. And don't remember it well. Also, I couldn't stand VK's character on it. And the stories I've heard about Matt Weiner who did Mad Men...make Whedon look like a veritable Saint in comparison.) That said? I'd forgotten how annoying Connor was in S4. Cordelia is equally annoying. Honestly the best part about S4 is everyone but Connor and Cordelia. If you ignore them - it's actually a good season. I rather like Angel in it, he's more interesting when he's at odds with people and grumpy.

The Lilah/Wes romance has some of the same dialogue as the Spike/Buffy romance, which is interesting. In their breakup scene - Wes tells Lilah that he has to break things off. Lilah states she's had this conversation with him before, and it still results in broken furniture. And I had a sense of deja vue. Except the episode Habeas Corpus, where they break up, and then he saves her from the Beast (who invades WRH), is much much better than the episode where Buffy breaks up with Spike - and Spike states the same line as Lilah, "I've had this conversation with you before..." Methinks Spike and Lilah has the same writers maybe? It's clear to me that Wes cares for and loves Lilah, but can't let himself be committed to her or in love with her. He won't completely cross that line. Lilah reminds him that Fred isn't much better. It's a similar love triangle to Riley/Buffy/Spike, except, in reverse? Instead of Wes breaking up with Fred and ending up with Lilah, Wes breaks up with Lilah and ends up with Fred, having been in love with Fred all along and Fred has more in common with him, while on Buffy, Buffy breaks up with Riley and ends up with Spike, having had Spike there all along, and Spike has more in common with her.

Over on Buffy, it's becoming abundantly clear to me that Buffy fell for Spike at the end of S5, but didn't want to. And didn't want him to love her. Nor did she want to be loved in S6. Her difficulty was she couldn't completely trust him or for that matter, herself at that point. She was overwhelmed with guilt. And giving in to her feelings for him - almost caused her to lose herself in him. There were no brakes. She was wise enough not to tell him she loved him, or really tell anyone except for Tara. Because she couldn't trust Spike. He could turn on her on a dime. That didn't mean she didn't to a certain extent trust and count on him - she did (at least as far as she was concerned and Dawn was concerned), until he gave her reason not to - which happened in Seeing Red, when in a moment of pain and desperation he forced himself on her sexually and then horrified by his actions took off.

In S7...she's slowly beginning to trust him and count on him again. And the fact that he, unlike Angel, chose to get a soul. Faced the Monster inside, and fought back. And risked every thing to get a soul. Kind of speaks volumes.

She's never going back to Angel. And Angel will never go back to her. If they do - it won't work. Both series kind of hammer that point home. You can't go by what the actress thinks - because she hasn't really watched both series that closely. And, actors are horrible judges of this sort of thing. I've noticed that across the board. The actor often doesn't see the character the same way we do, or the writer does.

The writers do make it confusing though.

The actors weren't the only ones who disliked the Cordelia/Connor storyline! So interesting to see the two three-cornered relationships compared.
