I've been debating the possibility of going to the Lake Tahoe meet for well a little while now. And have more or less decided that I'd really like to try and go. For a couple of reasons -1) haven't been to Lake Tahoe and always wanted to go, since college, 2)give me the chance to meet some of the people I may not have met at the last meet, also get to know some folks better in a more relaxed setting than Queens, NY . 3) haven't gone on a vacation for myself sans family for a very long time due to unemployment situation and would like to explore the possibility of going to a fun place with people I have similar interests.

But, I'm not sure if I still can go. I remember that there was a time limit for signing up, also not sure there's any room in any of the cabins for me. Can't afford to do one by myself. I tried to find the site for more information - went on knubbulla's lj, masq's, ladystarlight's and couldn't find a site listed for it anywhere.

Can anyone help? Is it still possible for me to go? Who else is all going? If not, completely understand...
When is it exactly? End of June? Mid-June? Early June? How long? 3 days? 5 days? Cost?

Thanks muchly.

I don't know too much info myself, but the official meet page is here (http://community.livejournal.com/atpobtvsats/46741.html), so that might answer your questions.

There's no actual time limit for signing up, just for trying to get a group together in one of the cabins. I'm not entirely certain what the status is with this, but there's a possibility of an opening in the cabin with masq, Jane, dlgood and cactuswatcher because dub had to back out. There's a discussion here () if you want to get more information. Ann will be there as well for part of the time. Other than that, I know there's more than just you who may not be deciding immediately and may end up in a close-by hotel. I think CW was planning to bring cots as well for any overflow or extra people who want to stay at the cabins.

So in short, no it's definitely not too late to decide to come and we'd love to have you there!

Ack! *with* the link this time...

I'm almost certain there's a vacancy in our cabin, since dub's friend cancelled meand dub had to cancel too, and only Ann has claimed one of those beds.

If not, several people are staying in a nearby hotel as well. I'm not sure who or where, but if you ask [livejournal.com profile] knullabulla, she might know.

I'm sure we could find space for you in our cabin. As Masq says, Dub and her friend can't make it, so as far as I know, there's a spot empty.
It would be great if you could make it!

Thanks, posted on the site where you were discussing it. But haven't gotten response as of yet.

Haven't made up mind yet - but if I go, would probably be only 4 week days and weekend, can't afford to take more than 4 if that.

I can only do 4 week days, too, since I'm saving up my vacation days for a UK trip in August.

Yes, it looks like dub can't make it. So if you want, you can come in with us(Masq, Jane, Dlgood, Ann, and I) Technically all the beds are taken, but I am bringing a cot or two for those we can talk into joining us. The dates run from June 22 to the June 29. The most people altogether will be there for the weekend the 23 throught the 25th. Ann is coming late and Masq is leaving early so, you might get a bed to sleep on some nights. If you are interested you can sign up with Sheri. Tell her you talked to us already. I can't tell you exactly how much it will cost, but certainly less than $40 a night.

Little Bit's link doesn't seem to work so you can use this one http://community.livejournal.com/atpobtvsats/47418.html

You should be able to just reply there and get Sheri's attention.

There is a figure in that thread for the whole rental which has already been reduced by Ann's deposit. I think we probably will want to divide the total by the actual days we stay. There is an up front $50 deposit. So the longer you stay the cheaper it will be per day for you and for all of us.

Hope you can join us!

Thank you for the information.

If I'd come - it would probably be either the 23-27/28, or the 24-29?
Can only really afford 4 or 5 vacation days from work for it. That's why.

Read up on the cabin - and am somewhat confused. If there are only 5 people in it and it sleeps 8, why isn't there another bed there already?

And would I be sleeping on the floor?

Eight is the max permitted assuming people double up, bring cots or crash on the floor. Ann is on a sofa bed which theoretically sleeps two. One or two of the other beds may be that size as well. Dlgood and I are currently in the room with two single beds.

You'd get a cot, which I'd bring (I'm driving from Phoenix), unless you prefer the floor! I'm sure I can bring some bedding to go with it or a sleeping bag if you'd like either. It can get chilly at that altitude in summer.

Any combination of days would be fine with us.

Can handle a cot, have slept on worse and much preferable to the floor. Am a bit worried about bedding, pillow, sleeping bag, linens? Not sure I'm prepared to lug these things in a suitcase. Also do not want to get cold.

How much of this stuff is provided? And how much trouble would it be for you to bring? Do NOT want to put anyone out. Or inconvenience anyone.

You asked about transportation over in the other thread. Reno is the nearest airport of any size. It's an hour or more drive up the mountain from there to the lake, but there is regularly scheduled bus transportation many times a day between the airport and the casinos not far away from our cabins on the lake. It should be a very scenic ride once you climb out of Carson City. You can find the schedule and cost by googling South Lake Tahoe where the cabins are then hunting the sites for transportation. The whole group will have to have a plan for how to let us know when people have arrived and how to get them to and from the closest casino. In our cabin Masq and I, at minimum, will have cars for sightseeing etc. during the week, which should be enough to get six people around.

You can search the recent ATPOBTVSATS Journal for other posts to find out who else is coming. As I recall the 'main' cabin has ten people signed up, and the other five (The Darbys and Fresne and her friend).
