Studio 60 and Heroes...
Oct. 9th, 2006 11:03 pmAnyone have any Studio 60 on The Sunset Strip icons I can steal? Tonight's episode? Just..ROFL! OMG.
ROFL!!!
The show had me laughing so hard at the end of it, my ribs hurt. Still giggling. That has got to be the best plagirism/copyright law joke I've heard in my life. And it was completely unpredictable.
Did not see the punch-line coming. And see that's my problem with most situational comedies - I see the punch line way ahead of time. This one, did not see. And the writer built it up so well, showed how it happened, the insanity of trying to fix it, only to discover absurdly that fixing it was unnecessary. Quite impressed. A smart comedy, rare feat.
Heroes...getting good. Course always liked Jeff Loeb as a writer, old school comic book writer. And I like how the stories are set up as part of a comic book - literally. Interesting meta on the art form. The infrastructure of this series is impressive and clearly thought out. First time seen a tv show use "chapters" - and the first time I've seen one reference comics as an "art" form.
Also like Studio 60, have no idea where it is going at the moment, thought I did. Now? Not so certain.
Oh the female FBI agent who looks so familar? She was Joan's female friend in Joan of Arcadia. Finally figured it out.
Studio 60 and Heroes may be my two favorite new shows this season, and next to BSG, my favorite on at the moment.
Yes, it is pathetic that a tv show can cheer you up. ;-)

Heroes
Date: 2006-10-10 06:05 am (UTC)I am madly in love with Hiro, and a growing crush on the cop, and I always liked Rory's old boyfriend Jess (our Peter who occassionally flies).
I think I'm going to need some new icons my own self.

LOL! I think everyone is madly in love with Hiro. I honestly think the reason this show is hitting its marks and got return viewers after the first week - was Hiro. From what I've read, the actor playing Hiro may be the break-out performance this year. He's made more than one TV entertainment mag.
From what I've read, Peter's ability (and he does have one) may lead him towards evil. Peter may be the anti-Hiro. In fact I think Peter and Nathan's relationship may be the counter to Hiro and his friend's relationship (which I adore). So far the show is doing a great job of parrelling the two. Hiro wants to be a "hero" and is working to save others. Peter is interested in being a "hero" for recognition - he's not satisified with saving one person at a time or the sick man who needs his help.
Can't say I share your love for Peter though...sort of gets on my nerves, so the above may be wishful thinking on my part. ;-)

And "anti-Hiro"??? Luvvit!!
There's a lot I like about this show, but so far I think my favorite moment, at least when it comes to the acting, is Ando's expression when he realizes the implications of Hiro's demonstration of his power. "So you believe me? You'll come with me?" And suddenly it's for real, & it affects his life.
