Good grief, I know and can sing just about every song on that list!
Better give this meme a try.

I probably know more than I think, just have a lousy memory for song lyrics, tunes and titles. Very odd. I can remember anything I've seen, but what I've heard? Not so much. It is sort of cool. Half my flist appears to be doing it. I think it originated with someone named [livejournal.com profile] crossoverman.

You're the opposite of me. I remember songs if I hear them once. But if I see you today I won't recognize you tomorrow. I'll know your voice, though.

I was never a big fan of Motown myself...
but this is a fun & unique meme, I'll have to try it.

Yep, not a huge Motown fan. Although I do like Marvin Gay's "I Heard It Through The GrapeVine." Nor did I love Stevie Wonder, or Barry Manilow and Paul Williams. Sappy love songs make me cringe. Yet, I seem to love the Monkees and The Beatles, not to mention the Animals, Mamas and Papas, and Dusty Springfield. (Love Dusty Springfield - she also did "Son of a Preacher Man" which is on the Pulp Fiction album.)

I have to say that I know every one of the hits on your list, but of course I was 17 years old at the time, driving around town w/my friends and doing my homework while listening to the radio. I never bought any of that music though, I owned some classical, some folk music (Donovan and others who never hit the pop charts) and a ton of show music (I was an odd kid).

Ah, so was I - odd kid that is. I owned Broadway Show Tunes, Classical, Folk Music and just a couple pop albums.

The songs I remember the most are the ones people born in the 1980s posted, so totally get what you are feeling. I vividly remember listening to and becoming obsessed with Rush's Tom Sawyer for example in 1981.

Yeah, felt exactly the same way reading [livejournal.com profile] buffyannatator's list.
I vividly remember dancing to The Police, Genesis, and Rush.
