Ghod that was exhausting. But I returned from Elmwood intact. No need to send out a search party, not that you were planning on it, but just in case.

How'd it go?

Sigh.

Let's just say that Job-hunting really does have a lot in common with dating. This was a bit like going out on a date with a greasy haired guy with lots of annoying mannerisms who wanted you to organize his world, sleep with him, and you just knew he was not going to clean up well.

Speaking of dating, went to CW's 40th b-day last night. Yep, we're doing the 40th birthday thing at the moment. Each time, I go we all spend about twenty minutes reminiscing about the good old 90's when we had money to burn (or didn't care about it), and just played. The 00's have been depressing by comparison. Anyhow, I spent most of the two hours - I'd alotted, drinking wine, chatting to CW and CW's male buds. One guy hailed from New Zealand - in his mid-40's, bald, nice wiry build (former sky-diver), who was about to open his own bar. CW's old roommate and best bud was a skydiver and used to have these parties with skydivers. I'd been invited to go once, but skydiving is bloody expensive, takes a heck of a lot of time, and I have enough worries - don't need to be worrying about opening my parachute on time and making a decent landing. (If you land wrong sky-diving - you can seriously injure yourself. One guy - a trained sky-diver, been doing it for years, a real sweetheart, shoot didn't open at the right time (equipment malfunction) and he landed hard on his ass or something like that. At any rate it screwed up his kidneys and urinary tract so he needed a sack attached to pee into. Don't remember the exact details, just the end result. But it was gnarly.) Anywho...he's opening a New Zealander Bar down on the Southstreet Seaport. Should be interesting. CW is into the New York bar scene - has another bud who is opening a Wine store and service. This guy was sort of cool. Laid-back. In jeans. Much like I was. (Wore blue jeans, hot pink long sleeved sweater, which was comfy and tight fitting enough to show curves but not obscenely so, also no low neckline, leather jacket, black shows, and dream-catcher silver earrings with a turquoise stone. Simple, laid-back.) The other guy was in a suite, met him before. And we have what can only be considered a mildly offensive (to women) sarcastic conversation. He basically tells me I should get married to him, have kids, and be a housewife. And I basically make fun of him for suggesting it, while stating that while this is tempting, but uhm no. Then we switch to writing, my novel, and he tells me I should write a story about him. (Yeah right). Or for him. And insert a character called "Miscellaneous Trout Fishing Guy". (???? Okayyy.) Which he informs me I won't remember tomorrow anyways. (True, only remembered the Trout Fishing Guy part not what proceeded it, think it was Misc, could be wrong.) And entitle my book - "If I Did It - This is What I'd Have Done" - no, I tell him, I like my title better - which I provide. He scoffs and repeats his. And I figure out, okay, this guy wants to talk about the OJ Simpson case. Sigh. Bloody tired of the OJ Simpson case. He goes to the bathroom finally and I leave the party, walking out with the cool New Zealander, who I liked much better.

Go home. Watch VM. Realize that yes, I figured out who the rapist was way before the heroine did. The show is losing me.
Sort of slow and I'm having troubles caring. I did however like the final three scenes. This morning back at it, two more interviews schedules with two different companies. One phone. One in person. December is going to start off with two interviews. Yay me. I think I averaged one - three each week, but Thanksgiving, in November - not bad.

Well I enjoyed VM way more than you did, it is true that the residence guy was kind of an obvious choice, but I kind of liked the way they set it up, and the way they resolved it. And (as I mentioned at my lj) I really loved Logan's response (yes, lets get arrest so I can revenge myself on these jokers for hurting my girlfriend in such a way as to cause me a lasting police record! LOL).
I am hoping that Weevil will figure more promenantly in this new murder mystery which was started by the end of the episode... I'm figuring he'll be a suspect, and probably Keith too.

I liked the ending. Was bored up until the bit where VM was fighting with Mercer. But then I was never thrilled with the serial rapist storyline - part of my problem was I'd figured out who was responsible the year before - the RA. Then the prison study episode re-affirmed my theory. Was it realistic? Sure. Rape whistle bit made me smile, remember mine fondly - it was black. But the storyline itself? Felt a tad on the trite side to me - typical of college campsuses. The only interesting twist was the prison study bit - being what more or less caused the serial rapists to bond and emerge.
I liked that aspect. But most of it? Found to be slightly generic and annoying.

That said? I liked the pay-off, which was Logan confronting the two rapists in the prison cell, infruriated. That worked.

The Dean O'Dell story may actually be more interesting. I'm just not being pulled into the story by the characters any longer though - can't quite tell you why. So will catch it when I can, but not going to go out of my way. (For me - I have to go out of my way, have no way to tape, record, or download episodes - if I don't see it when it airs? I miss it, unless they network chooses to repeat it.)

The Dean story could be fun especially since I'm guessing Veronica's perfect murder paper will play a part. What might really be good is if Keith is a suspect - one of the big problems with the rapist storyline was how peripheral the plot seemed to the main characters' lives.

Agree. The Dean O'Dell has more possibilities - one, we got to know and like the Dean. Veronica has a stake in it, because she may have inadvertently caused it by telling about the affair. And two people she cares for could end up suspects: Weevil and Keith.

Also agree on the rapist storyline - the big problem was it didn't really affect the main characters that much until Veronica started investigating it. Didn't have the emotional resonance you need to pull viewers in, also it's a retread of a prior storyline which I think was done better in S1 and 2.

Yes, much better than the loooong rape storyline. Hopefully the murder investigation will be interesting although it would be hard not to.
