Frustrating annoying day...but incredibly pretty outside...sigh.

Anywho..for anyone else who is a JM fan and is having a frustrating day, swiped from petzepellingo (whose lj name I can never remember how to spell):

"JAMES MARSTERS JOINS CBS HIT DRAMA WITHOUT A TRACE

James has been cast in a recurring/guest star role on the hit CBS one hour drama Without A Trace. He will portray ‘Detective Mars’, who is described as: mid 30s to 40. Attractive in a real way, a bright, full-of-life personality, charming, possibly from around the Washington DC area, so could have a slight southern accent. Mars is a Police Detective who has started to investigate what seems to be a ring of Human Trafficking. He has information our FBI team is interested in and comes to New York to speak to Vivian about what he knows. Eventually he will become part of a task force to deal with Human Trafficking. GUEST STAR, RECURRING ROLE.

The role films in both New York and Los Angeles."

Apparently they got it from his web site. Will say this much, Without A Trace is a lot more enjoyable than Saving Grace or the Law & Orders, CSI's I've tried to watch. It also has a bit more grit to it than Bones, which is weak in the writing dept. Not a huge fan of procedurals, but I don't mind this one so much.

I've watched this a few times and I've really enjoyed it, it is an unusual procedural because it is often from very different POVs. And I'll be glad to see JM in something less genre specific (okay, procedurals are a genre, but much more mainstream). I hope he'll character will have some scope (ie some dialog).

Oh he will. According to another person on my flist - who I got the news from first, actually, and who watchs Without A Trace regularly and is up on spoilers for the show - JM is playing a recurring role not a walk on, and a potential romantic interest for one of the leads - he's basically there to provide conflict for a current romance between two of the leads on the who, head a task force, and solve a mystery. Sounds like even more of a role than he had on either Torchwood or Smallville. Also more mainstream - so more likely to get him other roles as a human in mainstream fair. Very tough to get work if you only do cult and are only seen by a cult audience. There's a reason after all that it is called cult.

Actually, there won't be a romantic subplot for the Marsters character...I don't think. I assumed Marsters' "Detective Mars" would be paired up with Poppy Montgomery's Sam character, but her personal plotline is going in a whole 'nother direction this year, so little chance of that. In fact, unless he's paired up with one of the guys, he's just there to work, and I'm very glad about that....

Hmmm...Sounds like the romantic relationships didn't work?

Hope they'll explore his character a bit. The only thing I've seen him do outside of Buffy that I found interesting was I think Millenium.
And maybe that Amber Benson film.
