Hmmm...for anyone out there who is a huge Angel fan - the Brian K. Lynch/Whedon comic After the Fall looks like it might actually be really good. According to the interview I just read, they have managed to find a writer who adored all the characters on that show and loves them equally, including Connor, Spike, and lesser known ones. The interview states that Connor will feature in the comics in a huge way and Spike has an interesting arc.

Also MTV is showing Legally Blond The Musical today...for anyone besides me who loves musicals. I'm not watching it live - wasted last weekend glued to tv, so not doing that this weekend. Besides this is what DVR's are made for. Have decided to give myself permission not to watch everything my DVR records, if I have to erase a few (okay make that a lot) items - so be it.
Oh and I find it incredibly amusing and enjoyable that Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize, the prize that Clinton has been angling for ever since he started his foundation and interviewed Jimmy Carter on how to get one. LOL!!! I honestly think the world would have been a better place if Gore became President eight years ago instead of Bush.

Date: 2007-10-13 10:29 pm (UTC)I'm very excited about 'Angel: After the Fall', I hope it is a huge hit because Brian Lynch's work really deserves credit (as does Franco Urro).
You'll have to tell me how the musical version of 'Legally Blond' was after you watch it, I've been away and didn't tape it.

It's very repetive and has simplistic rhyme schemes. Feels very amateurish. Don't bother with it. Hopefully the next musical MTV puts on will be a lot better.

Date: 2007-10-15 12:52 pm (UTC)The last twenty minutes aren't bad, actually the last twenty or so minutes may be the best of the whole thing, there's two scenes in a court-room that have potential. But the music and lyrics are sooo simplistic and amateurish that it grates. Shame since the performers are quite good.
Just wish they had a better choreographer and lyricist. They deserve a better show than this.
And yep, it's following in the footsteps of Hairspray. (Not Dreamgirls so much - which was a Broadway musical circa 1980s before it was a movie.)
They've done a lot of translations of movies as musicals lately - a few aren't that bad from what I've heard: Full Monty got decent reviews. Footloose didn't last three months. Now we have Xanadue which is getting good reviews and may actually do well - the movie was atrocious and supposed to be a musical (much in the same line as well Grease 2, Can't Stop the Music, and Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band - the 70's and early 80's musical missteps.) So they can only get better on Xanadu, not sure you can get much worse. (I know, I saw that movie back when it was released, was a kid at the time. )
