Have the sinus headache from hell developing, so decided against listening to The Globes, which aren't really that entertaining. They basically have announcers standing at a podium telling who is nominated and who won. Making the whole thing seem rather silly. I don't know why Hollywood needs these awards shows. Oh, that's right, they need it to advertise and promote themselves. This presentation unfortunately is not accomplishing that. But it is certainly trying, albeit pathetically. But still.
Oh - CBS plans on showing Dexter S1 in February - so anyone who hasn't seen it and doesn't mind not getting the nudity, foul language, and gore - can catch it then. I just finished watching the entire first season on DVD via netflix. I recommend it. It does an interesting job of discussing sociopathic/psychopathic behavior and is a psychological drama. Also pushes the view that serial killers are made not born, and also very complex monsters. Not what you'd expect. And you need to be patient, because it doesn't really take off until about the sixth episode when Deb, Dex's sister, starts dating a prosthetics guy.
Just watched The Sarah Conner Chronicles. Like the Terminator films, the protagonist is a female and she kicks ass. She's not a damsel. It's what I always liked about those films.
Even in the last film - we had two tough women, the terminator and Kate Brewster. In the series - we have two tough and complex heroines - a terminator and Sarah Conner. John is really a supporting player and takes a back seat.
I have to admit that I am looking forward to the fourth installment in the Terminator series, coming out in 09 - in which Christian Bale takes on the role of John Connor. He's the perfect choice. Brooding. Obsessive. And quietly heroic. Curious to see who gets the female parts.
And who plays Michael Bien's role of Connor's father.
But until then, I'm going to happily watch SCC. Yes, I'm a sucker for a good female action flick.
In other tv news - still watching Friday Night Lights. And enjoying it. Not sure anyone else is. Also still watching Moonlight. Which has gotten a bit better.

Date: 2008-01-29 11:38 pm (UTC)Like SCC (& I'm glad to have a short version to call it). I'm enjoying it so far, for both the action & the acting (like the regretful pride in SC's expression at the end of the 1st show when her son says "No one is ever safe" along w/her). The writing's pretty good too. I didn't see the 3rd movie, & I didn't know a 4th was coming out.
Sorry for the late reply. One of many things I've been having trouble keeping up with lately. (Maybe that's why I got "Invalid form submission" the 1st time I tried to post this?)
