Sigh....

Color me stupid or more appropriately too lazy to figure it out - but why are people on my flist doing a content boycott of live journal on March 21st GMT (is that Grande Mountain Time?) from midnight to midnight?

So, what have they done or are threatening to do to everyone, now? And more to the point, do I really want to know? Headache inducing trauma, I can do without.

Uggy, frustrating week. But back is better. Looking forward to the three day weekend - yes, my workplace is odd, we get Good Friday off. I have no idea why. Never had this before. I'm not celebrating it or Easter, because I'm not religious for reasons I won't irritate you with.

Planning to lay back, watch the telly, read, straighten, eat, and maybe hang with a friend. Had planned to visit kid-bro, but he hasn't gotten back to me and I don't want to risk throwing my back out this weekend trying to climb in and out of the loft that doubles as a guest-room. I can do that next weekend.

Why is it that the universe gives you hope one day, then pulls it away from you the next? (Obama speech is a great example - yesterday the media was going on about how wonderful it was, and important. Tonight they are stating how Obama is now un-electable from a Republican standpoint. Sigh. I won't depress anyone with why. I know why. It's stupid and I'd rather not think about it. Suffice it to say, my father was right the people who needed to hear what was said in that speech, dismissed it as mere rhetoric and didn't learn a thing. Makes me want to kick people just thinking about it.). Anyhow..all of this just Makes life feel a bit like a see-saw or rather doing the texas two-step. I've decided I can't predict let along control what is going to happen next nor worry about it any more, so am going to continue focusing hard on enjoying the moment and letting the future take care of itself. It's bound to do that anyways without much help from me.

I have to confess that I also don't know what the deal is with livejournal...again. But I was going to participate in the boycott anyway (because I was asked to do so by a friend, who I like more than I like lj).
GMT is Greenwich Mean Time, so midnight to midnight GMT is the same as Thursday 5 pm PDT (Pacific Daylight Time) to 5pm PDT on Friday.... but it hurt my poor old brain to figure that out...I'm not sure I can decipher what Eastcoast....wait
I guess it would be 8pm Thursday to 8pm Friday.
Not that anyone who owns or runs lj would even notice.

And I agree, I am discouraged that Barack's speech didn't seem to move others the way it did me.... But I'm just grateful I got to hear it. Que sera, sera.

I wanted to thank you for the lovely and wonderful birthday gift. The book looks lovely and I've been thinking about getting it or at least the first one for a while now.
The concept intrigues me - the idea of characters from a story coming to life or people being pulled into a story they are reading, literally. Played with the idea myself from time to time. So thank you!!
Was completely unexpected and a total surprise. Thank you again!

You are one of the reasons I keep this journal up. I enjoy our discussions on it.

You are right about Obama, I think one of the reasons I got sooo upset with a response to my post on the speech below is that response was too similar to a statement I heard from George Stephanopolois on the news. Both responses made me angry, perhaps irrationally so, and a little depressed. But you are right - at least we got to hear it. MArtin Luthor King was dismissed during his lifetime, but his words lived on. I think Obama's words will live on as well.

On the content boycott - so, can I respond to posts? Or is that boycotted too? Don't want to be a scab. Although much like yourself, I finding it difficult to care. I rarely pay attention to the interests and I no longer have a basic account - gave it up for an ad account in order to be able to post pictures ages ago.

Bright side: I've had two people tell me that the speech turned them into Barack supporters!

And no, from Thursday night to Friday night, we are not supposed to post anything or comment anywhere on lj....
but you can read, and make note of what you want to say after the boycott is over (at least that is what I will do). Hopefully other's won't be posting so you won't find much to comment upon anyway!

edited to add: I'm glad you got the book and I hope you enjoy it. I think the writer is very good, and has created a beautiful textured world. I found the first book to be a little rough/dark/scary, so even though this second book 'spoils' the first one, I like the second one a lot better. I think it is more uplifting and I just felt better about sharing it.
