Learned the hard way that the video game The SIMS is dangerous for one's pocketbook. Note to self, do not plant pumpkins and do not give in to prompts. They want you to spend money. It's like Echo Bizarre in that way. Sneaky. If you don't spend money, you can't move forward. The other dangerous item is the kindle where you can purchase books instantly for no more than 3-6 bucks. If I'm not careful the combo of the kindle and the iPad could become wickedly expensive. Wish I could figure out how to borrow books from the library on the thing.
With all the best of the year lists going around...I've realized I can't do one for movies, books or music...because haven't really read anything published in 2011, and most of the movies I saw I can't remember. Music? Everything was created prior to 2011 as far as I know. Or I just can't remember.
So...have a sort of meme?
* What was your favorite song or album of 2011? Or what song or album or singer would you rec for 2011?
* What was your favorite movie? What film would you recommend?
* What was your favorite book? What book?
Mine are:
1. Mumford and sons
2. Crazy,stupid, love
3. Graceling by Kristin Cashore - a YA fantasy novel about a young woman born with the ability to fight, not what you think and oddly the most vivid of the books I read last year, even if I read it last Jan.

2. 'Hugo' which I recommend in 3D, but it would still be beautiful in 2D...
it deserves to be seen on a big screen (not DVD rental)
3. I seriously loved Terry Pratchett's new book 'Snuff', but I may have loved Sue Grafton's 'V is for Vengeance' more (and I did love 'Ghost Stories' a lot too).... This was a good year for my genre favorites!

Their new album is available on iTunes:
or you can buy the actual CD at their website for just $10:

(I like getting the actual CD but I'm waiting until I'm back home again since I'll be in Texas in January and in Florida in February).
