For anyone who might have missed Hillary Clinton's speech or got the end cut off due to stupid DVR computer programming - go here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=268ncnoitEc

It's a great speech by the way. Ends with a tribute to Harriet Tubman and mentions the Suffrage Movement which ended with the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote. Hillary states that her mother was born without the right to vote, but her daughter was able to vote for her own mother for President this year. We've come a long way...yet have miles to go before we sleep.

It's a good speech, barrelling home the message that if you want change and support what Hillary stood for, you'll vote for Barack Obama.

Oh and courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] ponygirl2000 go here to read a rather good article critiquing how the news media has portrayed the Democratic Convention and Hillary Clinton.
It's making me wonder to what degree they've blown out of proportion the Hillary Nitwits who say they'll vote for McCain to spite the rest of us who believe in Obama or because they loved those last eight years of Bush and want them to continue no matter what. The Convention I'm watching or have watched segments of on CSPAN is anything but contentious or divisive. These people seem really happy and united. Coming to the conclusion that the letters I'm reading in the Metro section are from the minority, a few ignorant and crazy souls who have nothing better to do than write letters to the Metro.

This will probably be the first election in my life in which I've voted for someone as opposed to merely against someone. Just wish...

I think the press, just like most of the cable TV pundits, have gone out of their way to pick the divisive letters to the editor, they want a 'drama' to talk about...
frankly I think the corporate interests who own the papers and cable news outlets want to make the American voters think that the Democrats are too divided to govern, and that the Republicans will be the safer choice.

These same papers & cable news stations haven't covered the deep divides in the Republican party, I'm wonder if they will manage to pretend they aren't there next week?
