It's a more lengthy version of the response to another person's response to my own post on the same topic.
Before you read it - go here:

(It is an unbiased biographical essay on Pagila.)

Date: 2008-09-12 04:54 am (UTC)The thing that really bothered me the most about Paglia was something I kept hearing from a lot of Pro-life types.... That the Pro-choice advocates are ideologues....
WTF?
I'm an ideologue for advocated that every woman should have the freedom to decide for her self, with her doctor and her conscience...
but the people who want to over-ride the individual's rights and any other concerns, the people who want to impose their religious believes on EVERYONE they are reasonable ones? Yeah, right.

Date: 2008-09-13 04:45 am (UTC)Pagila is a bit of an ideologue herself. She's like a lot of celebrity pundits, more interested in personalities or celebrities. I stopped taking anything she said or wrote seriously ages ago.
More often than not, Pagila just pisses me off.
Not what she says so much as "how" she says it.
She's so smug and self-righteous and has a tendency to treat those who disagree with her like they are nitwits. Granted to a degree, I do the same thing at times. Which may explain why it annoys me in someone else. I'm not particularly fond of this trait in myself. And fear that it occassionally comes across in my own writing, which is another reason why I delete alot. (VERY SELF-CRITICAL).
