Dec. 13th, 2008 11:44 pmRead this online today, and it brought back memories. My favorite responses are
stormwreath which is the most logical, the least emotional, and on target. Moscowwatcher's comment regarding interpretations of Hamlet - made me laugh out loud. It's a meta on Seeing Red, and guess which scene?
Regarding tv shows? Just finished watching Leverage - and that's a fun show. It's a lot like the films Ocean's 11 and Ocean's 13, but with more interesting characters. Plus the added bonus of watching a group of smart people outwit big corportations that hurt ordinary people. So, it's sort of Ocean's 11 meets Erin Brokonovic. Loved the pilot.
Meme floating about, which I can't answer most of:
1) What are your nicknames?
Don't really have one, except a shortened version of my name.
2) How do you style your hair?
Blow-dry and let hang loose, sometimes pull it up.
3) What's new in your life right now?
Can't think of anything.
4) How many colors are you wearing right now?
TWo
5) Are you an introvert or extrovert?
I'm an introvert with some extrovert tendencies.
06. What was the last book you read?
You mean finished? Uhhh...how about reading? I've picked up and put down five books in the last six months. Right now working my way through Monsters of Templeton Place by Lauren Groff - so far, pretty good. Wish I could write as beautifully as that...than again maybe not, her plot is unfortunately fairly common. Interesting, but common.
07. Do you nap a lot?
Never.
08. Who was your first TV boy/girlfriend?
Kimba - the White Lion (yes, I know it was a cartoon creature and a lion. But there you go.)
First human? Davey Jones from the Monkeys, a show I was a bit obsessed with. I liked shows back then that had a lot of gaps and weren't heavily plotted.
09. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
The economy. My Granny who is rapidly moving into the advanced stages of Altziemers. My social life or lack thereof. And my brother who is nutty.
10. What was the last thing you ate today?
Gluten-free pasta with meat sauce.
11. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
45 minutes.
12. What was the last thing you watched?
Leverage
13. What relaxes you when you are stressed out?
Taking a very long walk or walking in general and writing
14. Do you like to clean?
Not really.
15. What's the last song that got stuck in your head?
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer - someone was playing it on the radio in the cubicle behind me, then he sang bits of it, then whistled, then I was humming along with him and whistling - it's a deadly song. Deadly.
16. Have you ever been to a play? If yes, which ones? What is your favorite play?
Way too many to list. About a hundred, maybe more. Favorite? Uh...difficult to choose just one. Also mind is a blank at the moment.
17. What would your death row meal consist of?
Chocolat Mousse Cake and very good New York Pizza. Also a coke. Everything I can't have basically - because it makes me sick.
18. What would you do if you see $100 lying on the ground?
If I didn't see anyone drop it, it' mine.
19. What is the best TV show that you have ever seen?
Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I know it has some serious flaws, but I haven't seen one tv show that doesn't and I've pretty much seen about 85% of the stuff on. Buffy was the only show that I felt consistently pushed at the envelope, watching it was like watching a high wire act. It's the only one I went out of my way to own. And the only one I ever felt the need to write about. (And from what I've seen - apparently I'm not alone on that front. Just saw another Buffy Essay book published - this one focusing on the last two seasons.)
20. Tell me something good.
Was told I was doing a great job at work, was a pleasure to work with, and a great addition to the team. If you knew my work history, you'd realize how big an accomplishment that truly is.

Date: 2008-12-14 05:49 am (UTC)WAY better than any of those stupid 'Ocean's' movies! I was actually surprised by some of the plot twists and they really established interesting characters (not all of whom are 20 somethings)... I'm definitely going to continue watching.
And that was an interesting meme... I'll have to bring it over to my lj.

Date: 2008-12-14 03:29 pm (UTC)The characters and the actors portraying them are rather interesting. And go against type. In most shows the geek is the nerdy girl and the adrenaline junky/theif is the guy. Here it's reversed. Also it reminds me a little of the A Team, but better written and acted. I never thought I'd see Christian Kane of all people play the muscel. LOL! And he's rather good at it, because he's playing "intelligent" muscel, which we also don't always see.
I think the only 20 something might be Parker, who isn't breathtakingly beautiful and is played as sort of quirky.
And that was an interesting meme..
Not to mention short - that's the key to a good meme.
These 30 to 100 question memes exhaust me just reading them. A good meme should not be longer than 20 questions.
